questions on updates.

When I installed Sims 4 I'm not sure if I got updated to present.  Would it have done so automatically?

I know with Sims 3 when I clicked on the link to play it would open in Origin and let me know that there was an update and ask if I wanted to install it.  Now, Sims 4 just goes straight to the game.  Do I need to go somewhere to do the updates?

It sounds like you're up to date on the patches for Sims 4. As Sims 4 doesn't allow you to play the game unless you are up to date on the game patches.

If you want to tweak the settings for the patch updates:

1. Log into Origin
2. Go up to the word Origin in the client (left-hand corner of the client menu)
3. Select Application Settings > General tab (which is the default tab)
4. Look for the word Updates to make your desired changes.

:Note: If you have the disc version of Sims 3 and don't want to update to game patch 1.69 you will want to uncheck the Automatically keep my games up to date.

Thanks for the quick response.
Glad to know that I am up to date.  I have only chose a character, didn't do more than name her, pick out a neighborhood and a house.  Then she walked away and I panicked , oh no, now what?  So, I saved and left to read the guide here to figure out what t do.     Since I was able to do that, I guess it shows I am up-to-date, thanks again for the info.   

I haven't reinstalled sims 3 yet.  I want to focus on the sims 4.  I figure I might decide to play sims 3 out of comfort and familiarity, not working on learning how to play 4. 
I want to give it a fair chance to see if I will like it.
