Sims all stuck in one single spot?
« on: November 13, 2010, 09:55:09 PM »
While playing in Egypt, I experienced a weird problem. On the last day of vacation, all of my Sims were stuck in one spot at my vacation home. I tried resetting, but it didn't work. Only one Sim got to get out due to teleporting him back and forth from one spot to home. I had him get my household back home in Bridgeport, but the same thing happened again. I restarted the Sims 3, one of my Sims tried to play computer games but he was brought to the same spot where he was stuck with the other Sims again. What is weird is that I can't cancel any action done while the Sims were stuck. Even more frustrating is that when I tried to go into Buy Mode, Build Mode, or Edit Town, there is no bar that will let me interact with the game down in the screen (like the one where you select the doors, etc.), leaving me with in a irreversible position.

EDIT: My Sims are no longer stuck but when I finish my changes in Buy Mode its stuck there, frozen, never loading back to Live Mode.  :-X

Notes: I have the base game, WA, Ambitions, and LN. I also had the cheats testingcheatsenabled true, buydebug, and moveobjects on at that time.

Moveobjects on, is one cheat I always turn off when I am finished.  I can't say exactly the problems you might have, but I know leaving cheats on are not the best thing to do.  I do, however, leave the testing cheat on, I have never had a problem, but maybe having all three on at the same time might have something to do with that.

Thanks Saltypaws . I started having problems with my sims getting stuck too . This happened right after using the cheat to place furniture in the Prosper lobby . This was the very first time I was able to make a cheat work but didn't know that we should go back and turn it off . I guess I just got too excited about my accomplishment To even think about doing that . I will now go and turn it off and hopefully this will solve my problem .

Edit : My cheat was turned of and my sims still get stuck . As soon as I get one unstuck the other one gets stuck . I will have to wait to continue that game . I have started an other one in Bridgeport and so far it seems to be OK .

I don't think I've had those problems with LN but I've had them before. (But others seem to have them only since installing LN.) WA, in particular, seems to have a lot of bugs since Ambitions and, at least for me, the problems seem to be worse on the last day there (though that could be coincidence). I've also had the freeze going from buy or build to play even in non-WA worlds. However, I don't think my Sims were stuck first.

It may have something to do with RAM since it seems like I've had fewer freezing problems since I used CFF Explorer to increase the amount of RAM my computer can use to play TS3. TS3's limit on RAM usage seems to be a problem for 64-bit systems. However, other people have noted similar freezing problems elsewhere and have not been helped by the CFF Explorer fix.

This topic doesn't belong on the Late Night board as it's not specifically about Late Night.  I'm moving it to the Technical Help board.

Ok then. I thought it was about Late Night since this problem was probably associated with the installation of the LN expansion.

Now about my problem, the Sims are still stuck in one place even if cheats are not on, and going to Buy Mode, Build Mode, or Edit Town leaves me with a screen with nothing at all (except the world around me, its not blank and I can see the cars, etc.)

Hi Chigatana,

I'm having this same problem! How did you get your Sims unstuck? Thanks so much!

I had a glitch in China. When my sim got home, there was nothing. No live mode, No ability to exit, just a picture of her house. I stopped the program and tried again, then I had live mode, but I could do anything with her. I noticed that 10 of her Bridgewater firends (including toddlers) were now in China. I had to scrap the game because I couldn't do anything.

What you describe is a fairly common bug related to traveling.  Generally, if you don't have a back up of your save file, the game is lost.

Strange because it's the first time it's ever happened and I've played the Sims non-stop for a long time. Now I save more frequently and have a back-up.
Thanks Pam!
