Duplicate sims?
« on: January 04, 2016, 02:58:40 AM »
Hi. I just experienced this problem just now and I was wondering how to fix it. I'll start from the start.

So I have a 7-sim family. They are 2 families which I merged together from 2 different neighborhoods. They are now currently living in Monte Vista. So everything is fine and all until I notice one of my sims, Nick, has a relationship with himself as his boss when I checked the relationships tab. The duplicate Nick in the relationships tab has the exact same job, celebrity level (5 star), social group level, number of traits (I have UL installed so I got up to 7 traits) and everything else! Another sim of mine, Andre, has the exact same problem as Nick.

The weirdest part was I could invite them over. I saved before I invited the duplicate over and I got so creeped out that I just quit the game, without interacting with the duplicate sim. I couldn't delete the duplicate with moveobjects on.

Can anyone help me on this or provide solutions? I don't mind moving to another neighborhood or anything I just need a solution to this.

Thanks everyone! :)
I have no idea what to put here.

This sounds like a familiar problem. Do you have your household saved to the household library by chance? Sometimes the game picks households out of the library.

You can delete them by going to Edit Town finding the duplicate household and deleting them. Other than that, like you said you can move towns.

It has been suggested to delete the household from your library to prevent duplicate sims from popping up again.

If it's a favorite household you can export them and save them to a flash drive or other backup media.

I do have a part of the new household saved to the library at the moment as a backup but it's with other sims not a part of the new household.

I already checked the entire town and I checked all the households and lots but none of them contained the duplicate sims. I guess I may have to move towns to fix this.

I'll try not to save my households in my library anymore and I'll probably export them, like you said.

But would it also work if I evicted them out of their house and moved them back into their home?

Thanks again. :)

@laurela

I did some searching on it and found some links that might have some helpful tips to try. (Links below)

I don't think evicting your current household and moving them back into their house would work for this particular problem. It's not your household you need to "reset". It's some how getting rid of the duplicate Sim.

Crinrict suggests instead of trying to delete the duplicate Sim is to to export the Sims that are in your library. As for what to do with the current game. I am not sure.

The last time I ran into this problem I just saved the household and their house and started a new game. After I placed them in the town I deleted them from the library.

If you don't want to start a new game, it maybe good to try a test game of moving your household to a different town to see if that helps.

I came around to this to see that my situation was exactly as described by "2." in that first link, except my Sim has never been on vacation anywhere (this happened to Beau Andrews who I never played). I think it disappeared when my attempt at using "Object...Delete It" failed on the copy and I exited to main menu without saving.

Edit: It's happened again but with Holly Alto (again, never touched her). What do I do?
