It can't be fed recipe books or career books.

Leto, has your feed problem been fixed?  Sometimes you have to just check on diet several times, and sometimes you just have to wait and keep trying.  I've had the same thing happen with Omni plants but eventually it will allow me to feed it.  Then after it has been fed several times, it takes a few days off and won't allow feeding for awhile.  You could test to see if there is a different problem with Omni plant by buying from buydebug and seeing if you can feed that plant.  You should be able to feed that one right away.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Your right Joria, maybe they just need to rest, lol.  I have the same thing happen, so it must be normal.  Of course, there is nothing normal about this game. ;)

Thanks Joria, it has been fixed in a most unexpected way: omni plant seed by time traveling. I had forgotten that was possible also. Still, ordering through the mailbox still don't work and I have no clue which bug has caused this, also I don't have the solution.
You can buy seeds by using Buydebug? How? I've never saw it.

Thanks for earlier reply. Can the omni plant grow cherries, pomegranates, or other fruits normally coming from trees? What about dishes? Can it grow french toast or grilled cheese sandwiches? Thanks! :)

When you go into buydebug, go to the section that has plants/veggies for spawners.  I think it is the third tab in, but not positive.  Then the plants are listed alphabetically so after you find lettuce, then money tree, you should find omni plant.  I used this to place some fully grown fruits and veggies on my empty, remodeled lots and public gardens.  These plants when put on an empty lot, never need tending but will keep producing fruits and veggies after harvesting.  The down side is they are only "normal" quality.  Once a sim moves into the house though, then the garden requires tending and can eventually become perfect plants. Once someone lives there, if you don't tend it the plants will die!  How does it know?

For omni plant it really doesn't matter if it is "normal" quality as it will produce the highest quality item fed to it, so my normal omni plants easily produced perfect death fish.  If you fertilize it though it seems to produce more of an item than if you don't fertilize it, and they really do need some time off to rest.  Also, sometimes you have to "refeed" a plant to make it produce.  "Refeeding" also produces more items but I think it wears the plant out faster.

@ Athena:  I think you can feed it fruits and veggies but why would you want to?  I've never tried so can't say definitely.  I have only fed expensive books and death fish.  I think I may just plant a bunch from buydebug and try feeding odd items just to see what WILL be accepted.  It would be good to know.

That's correct for everything except produce.  You must have a perfect quality Omni plant in order to get back the same quality produce.  For example, if you feed a perfect Life Fruit to a normal Omni plant, you will get back outstanding or excellent quality Life Fruits.

Yes, you can feed it any kind of produce.  I've fed it Life Fruit when I needed more of it for fertilizer and didn't have enough Life Fruit plants.  You cannot feed it any prepared meals.

Has anyone ever tried feeding it seeds?  I only ask because I see a work around for the broken Omni Plant seed order system if it's possible.  I haven't managed to get a gardener that high since this glitch started.

You can feed seeds to the omni plant.

Awesome!

So after completing the opportunity, you plant one and feed the rest of the seeds to it.  It probably won't be possible to get a perfect plant, but at least you can still make money from it.

Interesting. Feeding seeds to omni plants. Never thought that would be possible.

@Pam, the Omni plant provides more life fruit than a normal life fruit bunch? Than it is logical to furtalize and feed life fruit or other vegetables to omni plants.
Does the Omni Plant even die? If not, I can make a really nice garden based on Omni plants. It's far from realistic, but it does is handy.
Downside is, only sims with the omni plant oppertunity succeeded can work with those plants.

Yes, eventually.

Pitty. Do you know how long that takes? Mine last for several days (maybe simweeks) and are still alive.

They die after you've fed them a number of times and they produced ...er items for you.

That is not dying, Veldmuisie, that is becoming barren. Omni Plants go barren after they get harvested 25 produce.
