I'm really liking it so far and thanks so much for the suggestion of doing an art club on the home lot.  I started a club for my painter called The Raphael's (she only paints classics) and I've provided several easels on the porch.  The doors are locked so only household members can enter.  After work each day, my painter has to do a couple paintings for her work activity.  So I start a gathering at her house and the 5 other members come over, listen to the stereo on the porch (a club activity) and paint.  My painter is able to sell all of the completed paintings to the Gallery or a Collector (Gallery if the club member is in the painter career).  Note: if I stop the gathering a sims are still painting, they will stay until they've completed the painting and then leave.  VERY profitable - especially for a starting sim.  I'm made about 10k in 2 days.

Glad to know that disbanding or deleting clubs doesn't have any kind of negative consequence.  I was worried that the former members might lose relationship with the sim who got rid of it, or it might stay in their club list if they are inactives.

None of the families in my established saves have any practical use for the clubs, but then, I think that's because everyone in those families is already skilled up in what I want them skilled in, they've maxed their careers or school performance, have tons of money, and don't have any need or desire for new friends or romances.  Almost all their items are high end and unbreakable. Essentially, they're "done" with everything I'd want them to do aside from completing a few collections and that's why I'm not really seeing a point to putting them in clubs.  Especially since I have little interest in the dancing or DJ stuff at all.  Normally, with expansions there are specific things to do, like with Get to Work it was to try out new careers.  The clubs of this expansion are more of fleshing out what's already there and putting some flexibility with it.

I suspect the clubs are more fun/compelling on a fresh save with sims that could benefit from them without having all the money, skills, and career unlocks done already. So I decided to make an insane mischievous sim that will start out fresh from CAS and create a troublemaking group to outdo/rival the Renegades, all while wearing panda suits from Outdoor Retreat. (So I can call it "Pandamonium" of course.  ;D ) I'll see how that goes.

Pandamonium is a great name! Yes, the clubs are more useful for those sims that are just starting out. Also, if your sim is very choosy about picking friends, you could pick several traits and require that club members have at least one of them, or pick 3 traits, and look for a sim (or sims) with all of them. Very useful in finding a spouse.

I agree that clubs are decidedly more useful for sims that are just starting out. The skill rate is increased during a club meeting and then the money bonus of selling crafted items is a real help. I created a painting club too, although, to be fair they really were painting slaves as all the were allowed to do was paint and listen to the radio. They weren't allowed to do any socialising, eating or sleeping. lol My sim made quite a lot of money in a couple of days as well as picking up the perk that increases job performance.

To be honest, it did feel a little cheaty but then again if I'm doing a dynasty I use slaves helpers anyway. This just allowed me to have helpers that I didn't have to take care of any of their needs. Nice.

I then made a new game and tried out the DJ and dance skills. My fav, but I knew that before I even bought the expansion. There were a few very immersive game play moments when it really was like being in a nightclub. Very cool and very fun. My sim joined the Powerhouses as you've got to be fit so you can dance all night, right. Then skilled up and joined the DJ club (can't remember it's name right now) and eventually joined the partyhause (spelling?) club as it seemed to fit in with his socialising, out all night life style. That's where things got a little interesting. I didn't realize that one of their requirements was to be romantic with everyone.  :-\ My jealous sim started flirting with the leader. Fair enough I though, he must like her. But then she flirted with someone else... and then someone else flirted with him... and so on. The chaos was real and had me laughing as I sat watching this all unfold. Not very conducive to skilling up but pretty entertaining.

Next game was all about being mean. It was great! My sim joined the rebellious club, The Renegades, and had a time of his life. He over threw the leader by back stabbing him and talking trash. Then changed a few of the activities. What better way to get a rocket built than by making your rebel club help you out. So my sim fought with the 'enemy' club, built a rocket, skilled up in logic and rocket science of course and again bought the perk to increase his job performance all within quite a short time frame. Fun. I then decided to mix it up a little and had my sim flirt a little with the leader of the enemy club and build up the romance bar a little between them. Once that was done I then threw a club gathering in a location where the enemy club was and sat back and waited. I'll let you explore that kind of scenario for yourselves. It was a lot of fun.

I have played about 6 hours so far and have only seen about a third of the new world, which really is beautiful. I can see how powerful the club system is for a new sim and also think it changes the game play quite a bit for me. I had to really change my style of play which at first felt very awkward but worth it for the fun. The good thing is that I can still play my preferred style if I want as I don't have to use the club system if I don't want to.

There are some interactions that I really miss. I don't know if the patch changed that or the expansion pack but I really miss the ability to take a screenshot and assign any emotion to it so my sim can reminisce and get into that emotion in a split second. Now the only emotion available for a screenshot is the emotion your sim is in when the screenshot is taken. Bummer.
I also couldn't get 'play chess with...' to work either. I had to form a group with the sim I was with first, which felt a bit silly. A group of two sims... hmm. I also got hit with the 'toilet bug' where my sim would cancel all actions to go use the toilet every few minutes or so. I just side stepped that by buying him the Steel Bladder reward and deleting his toilet. Hope his visitors 'go' before visiting is all I can say. I'm pretty sure EA will patch a fix for this soon as it seems pretty common going by the bug thread and the forums. I'm also a bit stumped about the easels in the world. It seems a bit strange that they have to stay filled with townies paintings forever... which could be a very long time if you play a generational game. Weird. I guess you could run around starting paintings on them all in a new game so at least your sims could use them when they want but really, who's got time for that?

I really enjoyed how the game adapted to my choices as a player. When I was playing my social sim his phone never stopped. He was invited to parties, club gatherings, outings etc. When I was playing my mean sim it was quite different. The only people who contacted him were his club members, which really worked as after all it would be nuts for his enemies to be inviting him out or txting him.

So overall I like Get Together. I don't know if I will use clubs all the time but I suspect I might once I become more familiar with them. I really love how I can customize a club to basically anything that is in game now. I can see me creating a club for a specific goal and then just disbanding it once that goal is accomplished. I think the world is beautiful and some of the community lots are quite stunning. I really love the size of the world. The neighborhoods feel very open and large. I think it's a winner.

*edited: Sorry about the wall of text, didn't realize I'd written so much, congrats if you managed to read it all folks!  :)
**update on toilet bug, SimGuruDaniel is looking at this now. Nice. Now fixed in Dec 17 patch

What I was thinking last night was how this EP might work in the future. I understand why (I think) this took priority over other player wants (::cough::toddlers::cough:: ). I never played Sims 3, but I know in Sims 2 it was often very difficult to get a group to do what you wanted them to do. If they release a Seasons EP, you could create a winter fun club where members could build snowmen or ice skate together.  A future pack with restaurants? With clubs, it's easy to get Sims to dine out together. And even toddlers: Mommy/Daddy/toddler play group clubs. If/when we get supernaturals, there could be a vampire club/werewolf club rivalry. Really, as long as future packs are coordinated properly, the possibilities are nearly endless.

This certainly changes Dynasty play since it virtually eliminates the need to move in helpers, as Playalot points out. This is HUGE for me because I like focusing on my families and don't really like having to move in a bunch of other Sims. Except for Don. I love Don. Couple that with family "clubs" and I am totally sold on this EP.

Also, five words: "Bear night at the bar." I couldn't stop laughing.

So far I'm really enjoying Get Together. Windenburg is beautiful and very modern. Clubs are fun...my first is a kids club, The Jolly Rogers, dress up as pirates and play pirate adventures...very cute!
Thanks for all your input and suggestions for play, much appreciated.

I hang out at the bluffs all day. Just a very well created hang out. I get invited to the ruins all the time though, so the crew will go over there once in a while. But by far, my favorite place is the bluffs.

I built a cottage on the vacant lot of the island and totally love it!!  I don't much get into the social side of things in Sims 4, but this expansion pack makes its so much easier with the whole club thing.  I was really surprised by how much I enjoy playing it and going to parties.  My sim joined the Partihaus club as well.  I love making them dance as a group at a party.  It's so cool to watch them.  One of the actions is to be romantic.  I had my sim ask one of the group members (forgot his name now) to be her boyfriend, then she was caught flirting with someone else in the group and as a result ended up with a 'Very Embarrassed' +4 emotion that lasted 12 hours!
I also find the friendship meter increases a lot quicker when you belong to a club.
I have the toilet bug as well, but it only happens when I make her dance on the dancing mat outside.
Overall I'm loving it!!

I'm really enjoying the extent to which I can control sims not in my household through clubs and new social interactions. All the neighborhood kids have better grades because I make them do homework in a club. I can talk up sims to each other and suggest that they hook up. I've been experimenting with rotational play and I love switching back to a household I haven't played in a while to find that my sim has maxed dancing and has a boyfriend because of club interactions.
I also like my sims' friends calling them up for different kinds of social events like club nights or bar nights. I even had a teen call up and convince my teen to ditch school. It was hilarious.

I haven't had a chance to play with it a lot yet but what I've seen so far I really like.
One thing I was disappoint about is that neither of the two 64x64 lots were vacant lots. I figured one of them would be vacant and not have to kick a family out to move onto one of the big lots. But other than that I'm looking forward to getting into it more this weekend. :)

@Playalot I was thinking a club that focused on anger and went around pranking for fun could be really good. Sounds like we can join criminal career and have legit gangs now!

I'm getting back into writing this upcoming week and look forward to examining the dance moodlets and just what it does. Might start with an overweight Sim and see how well it sheds those pounds.

I agree that the bluffs are just beautiful. Really, the whole town is so well crafted that it feels totally different. I didn't realize how badly we needed a new setting that felt distinct from the others. I'm just not personally fond of living in a desert town and love the architecture in Windenburg.

I didn't even think of mixing it up with the criminal career but definitely, that would work like a dream. I'm surprised at how much fun I had with a group of mean sims, I might have to have another crack at that...and the criminal career. *snicker* Actually, I think I might play a few sims in rotation, set them up in the criminal career and have them all join a 'gang' and then set up a 'good' club filled with sims in the detective career. Then go back to my main sim and see what happens with these clubs autonomously. I guess I'd have to make their hang outs the same place or at least one mutual hangout option anyway.
