Get Together Clubs Guide
« on: December 07, 2015, 06:11:53 AM »

Hello Forum and fellow Simmers. I've had the pleasure of using a review copy of Sims 4 Get Together all weekend like several other fansite owners, I'm sure. I have to thank you all for your support, because honestly if people did not notice me EA wouldn't give me this opportunity.

You know I don't really do reviews so what I did all weekend was dig into the Clubs system heavily. Rather than cover everything shallow, I stuck with this one thing and tried to make it as good as possible. The only thing I feel iffy about on it is the randomness of the Leader Tips page. I could improve flow and perhaps add more. But maybe you can help me tomorrow when you get your own paws on the game and get to experience it. I did indeed learn a lot, and did things you'd want me to do in playtesting how the rewards Perks work for your reference.

The Skill boosts are STELLAR. I do not know if they're off by a decimal and meant to be 25%, but it's more like 250% faster skill gains, no kidding. And I'm talking that fast without even being in the ideal mood. I love the Comradery buff, the fact that you can keep the party going by using Rally the Troops and even get career boosts from Networked Club. Rally the Troops makes it so that you are not losing so much time by going out on the town, it replenishes some energy and even somehow dematerializes urine from your bladder. Amazing.

The perks are awesome, the customization deep (basically anything in the game), and it was just natural to leave the house to use these things. Probably my biggest gripe about Sims 4 has been greatly reduced, because this does give you more incentive to go about the town, and Windenburg is beautiful.

I think if you play normally and avoid doing clubs, clubs, clubs, as I did, you will get a lot of satisfaction out of this system over the long term and it's expected to continue to work with future expansions. I believe I saw they plan to add to the lists when new stuff comes out, but please don't quote me on that. Clubs will fit right into your Sim's daily life, and certainly help with getting promoted, making friends, etc. Whether you're using it for your breadwinner, or just playing a child manually more often, you'll enjoy the perks and organization you do to make clubs effective.

It even got me building. That's saying a lot.

Some fun possibilities also exist - you can make a club whose goal is to romance and woohoo, or a club that is full of pranksters, responsible kids who have study clubs, and families can make a bonding ritual where they take advantage of this system to play together, watch television, or just sit at the table and eat and chat like a family.

I guess this is my review :P It's a great addition, and I honestly like it better than Get to Work. Aside from retail, the 3 careers were very compartmentalized and you could play without even noticing them. This is more integrated into normal gameplay itself, and the recent patch supports this. Sims 4 just came up in quality significantly with this, but ONLY if you do like the clubs. If you're on the fence, look through my guides. There's a lot to digest and I believe you will get a feel for what's available in this pack and if you want it now or will wait for a sale.

Requested Info: I'm rusty as I took a break out of necessity. I'd love to hear lists of 3 or more things that can be done simultaneously via the multitasking system. You gain perk points for doing club activities, so it's possible to line these actions up with things your group can do in tandem. Someone who wants a club with maxed out perks would love to know more ideas other than listen to the radio while talking/eating or watching tv and talking. I know you can exercise and watch tv... I'd love to read more in the comments on the page and here on the Forum.

Of course, I could've made a mistake on any number of things given how many options there are... corrections and suggestions very, very welcome.

I am using a chunk of Pre-order earnings for a special cause this time around, which will be revealed next weekend. I am grateful to our members and would like to give back somehow. Do not take that as me begging you to get this - don't if you don't want it. If you're going to, go through our link to give us credit. I know plenty of you already did, which is why I'll be giving back.

It really makes me wish I had the bucks to both get it and support the site! You usually go above and beyond the call, Carl, so I'm sure that whatever you have planned will be epic! Honestly, when I bought the 1st 2 SP's and the 2 GP's, I totally forgot about the link, but I'm also not sure whether it would allow me to pay in Rands?!? Gonna go check that quick for future reference...

Edited to add: It totally does!!!!!!!! Yay! I can now support my all time favourite place in the whole world when I have a chance to :-) Lordie, I'm a drama queen lol

I think myself and others included were a bit on the fence when GT was originally announced. Don't get me wrong I was still going to get it (total sims addict) but wasn't over the moon with what I thought the concept of the whole pack was about.

However once I started to see the trailers of the clubs and the skills - dancing etc I was sold. I said when sims 4 was announced that I would start getting out the (sims) house more and not just skill, skill, skill... I'm still very guilty of that, but now I can get my simmies out the house, socialise and skill up too. Bargain!

Thank you for the guide Carl, I know I (and others who cannot get the pack straight away - whether it is due to different countries time delays or other reasons) look to get our fix from here to see what the packs contain and game add ons etc and really appreciate it.

I haven't been good at always using the site to pre-order/buy the packs through.... (if I'm honest, I tend to forget until I'm in the game and then download it then), but from now on, even if I have to exit the game to do it, I will support the site this way. It is the least I can do for a site I love coming to pretty much every day :)

Great job as always.

Great job on the new addition to the guide as always ! I'm so happy to hear you got a review copy , you totally earned it with all the hard work you put in to making the guide the best there is. And a big thanks to all those that helps out when needed.

I convinced my kids to give me the expansion as a Christmas present AND to let me pre-order so I could support the forum too. Now I just have to wait for the release so I can try it out.
I only live in real life when my sims need a break ;)

Thanks for the kind words folks! I'm pleased to get to do this with a review copy, instead of just 'reviewing' it. I think seeing how things work will help more, anyway.

If we get a little slow tonight it's due to the Sims official twitter sharing my guide! :D

A mistake I made in clubs was pointed out to me on Twitter. When making skill/trait requirements and you check multiple boxes, you are saying have either this or that trait. If you make 2 separate rules, they must have both traits. I've edited the guide to reflect this, it adds even better cutomization than I thought, as you can save rules by lumping things together if you're willing to have a Sim who is good at DJ or Dancing, and don't absolutely require both.

There is no limit to how many you can check, as far as I can tell.
