Yes, as soon your teen heir has reached level 3, he or she can quit.

You may add or rearrange objects such as easels, microphones, etc. to community lots. You may also add club hangouts to community lots. You still may not bulldoze community lots except for the ones permitted above.

I have a question regarding the spreadsheet.

How do you edit the spreadsheet or add it to Excel since I don't use Google docs?

You can try to export it, but i do not know if it works.

I make the sheets in google docs becuase all can make a free account and use them in there. I sadly cannot guide you further as i have not tried it myself, and i have no knowledge about your setup.

This sounds like a great dynasty challenge!!! As I haven't played much with aliens and not at all with the retail aspects of the game I am sure this will be a huge challenge!!! However, I know that I will learn a lot and it will be a blast!!!
