Two Sims in the Same Household in the Same Career?
« on: October 31, 2015, 11:53:42 PM »
Hi again, I have two sims in the same career (body builder) who are in the same household. He is able to mentor (he was the original resident of that lot), but she can't. Is this normal and should I put her into a different career or just the other branch of athletics?

I've also found that you can only have 1 sim per household in the gtw careers. There is an option to send the alone as a rabbit hole career, but they don't do as well.

Maybe the sims she was trying to mentor were already at level 10 of fitness. I've had two sims in the same household able to mentor other sims easily.

On that note, I've had three sims in the same household all in active GTW careers. As long as you rotate going with each of the sims to clear any promotional requirements it's easy enough to play them all to maxing out their careers. Sims will progress nearly as quickly going alone to an active career as long as all promotional requirements have been met and they go alone to work in the correct mood.

Rotating them is good. :)  As for her not being able to mentor, she can't even mentor her hubby and he's definitely not at lev 10 yet. So I don't know what to do. I'll try again tomorrow and if she still can't mentor, I might just put her into the pro athlete branch instead.

Is your female sim at level 10 of fitness? Not that that should make a difference as she should be able to mentor fitness once she is at level 5 of the Body Builder branch.

if the female sims skills are LOWER or the SAME than the Male sim, the mentor interaction became unavailable.

Thanks dodi90, that's what I was wondering.  :)

Thanks Dodi! However, it still doesn't make sense b/c his skills are lower than hers! They both have charisma 3, she has fitness 8 and he has fitness 7. They both have various other skills. He is able to mentor while she is not. Maybe I just have a weird game, LOL

Edit: I took her to the gym one more time. She was able to mentor one sim, but when she left her punching bag and then came back my sim had to introduce herself to the other again. One other sim I clicked on had the option for my sim to "train w/him."

My guess is this, your husband is energized when exercising and his effective level increase (which you cannot see), the game check the current level of the sims who want to be mentored and think that the husband skill is at least 8 (I don't know how much effective skill boosted being in correct mood). Train with someone is not mentor interaction as it is like doing workout with Sim x interaction.

Also, mentoring someone doesn't introduce you to them.  I usually introduce my SIM, then cancel the chatting and choose mentoring.

I understand this, but even after introducing herself, she rarely has the option to mentor. As Dodi said though, there might be hidden skills that I don't see. I'm thinking that I'm just going to put her into the pro athlete job instead. MUCH easier than trying to have both of them in body building!

Some sims can not be mentored until after you have introduced your sim to them. I don't know why this is but some 'strangers' can be mentored... and some can't. This holds true for mentoring in musical instruments, handiness and logic/chess too.

Body building is not as hard to do. Just invite random stranger to your house and have them trained on your own workout equipment by choosing Suggest Working Out on the stranger and they will automatically do exercise and you can choose mentor interaction while they are doing it. It is of course tedious with both of them on Bodybuilder. As for sims can't be mentored, you first have to introduce yourselves to them before the Mentor (and Discourage) to be available on the list. You obviously also cant mentor the one who is the gym instructor.

Yes, I understand. As you said Dodi, having both sims in the body building can be tedious. I can try the stranger method and see what happens. If she doesn't have the mentor ability, then I'll just put her into the pro-athlete career. I didn't know she was this high in the career and didn't know which branch she was in when she came to the household.

Do either of them have the "Mentor" reward?  If not it might make a difference.

I don't think so Joria. I'll check it out tomorrow.
