Confused on Doctor Career

I have the expansion pack and got a job in the doctor career. However I am not allowed to travel with my sim to work. How do I get the career venues!? Help Please?

Odd.  You should get the option to join your sim at work.

When your sim leaves for work, do you not get the option to travel to work with them? Is this occurring with the other active careers?
