Sudden Unexplained lag + apparent CC conflicts
« on: October 16, 2015, 12:52:49 AM »
Well, this is unexpected, 24 hour hours ago the game worked perfectly fine, then this evening, I fire it up, it instantly starts eating ram, it enver did that before. So, I try restarting the game, still no good, everything was lagging like heck. Sims taking forever to do anything selected, framerate chopping and/or stalling out. I tried using the NRaas mod thing for Overwatch, did no good for me whatsoever. My game is completely updated as well; and apparently the Sims3Dashboard found a few conflicts concerning my CC, but did not fix them. and I've no idea just how to do that myself.

The only CC I have is stuff from Frozen {Elsa, her dresses {Ice and coronation gowns{both are complete outfits}}, hair style, etc}. I'm not sure how this is conflicting only that it is somehow screwing up stuff.

If I could have a step by step guide {maybe with screenshots ?} on how to fix these conflicts, perhaps that could help me ?

Try running the game without custom content. By opening up the launcher, and clicking on the Installed Content Tab and checkmark Run Without Custom Content, to see if that help elevate the lag.

Have you tried any of the tips in this thread?

Hope this helps, :)

Well I did most everything in the tips for lag and crashing thread. Well, everything aside from the factory reset and playing the game without custom content. I haven't tried either of those yet, but I did delete the game cache files as directed in that thread. So far, its No good there.

I'm about to try running the game minus custom content now, I'll update this post with the results

Oh and somehow a .package file keeps making one inside itself {which Sims3Dashboard is finding as corrupt and wont fix} so I manually delete it.

EDIT: Apparently running even without custom content does not stop any lag whatsoever. I apparently have a conflect somewhere. but I dont know how to fix it, and I am scared to try because I dont know if I can get my stuff back.

Should I try the factory reset ?

Yes, definitely try a factory reset, link should be in the like I shared above.

I recently started experiencing freezing in my current game save. I tried a factory reset, it didn't help. But was able to save my family and start them in a new game. Which helped very much. Now it runs a lot more smoothly.

OK! I just tried the factory reset, its easier then I thought it would be, I dont have Showtime {nor plan on getting it to be honest there's only four total expansion packs I'm after {Seasons, Pets{have it}, World Adventers & Supernatural{have it}}}

I thought of saving a new game and trying the same files over in a new town or the same town itself. Haven't tried that yet

Yep, move them back into the same town they were in. That's what I did. They went from Moonlight Falls, back to Moonlight falls in a new game.

A couple other tips to try:

If you're playing the Origin/Digital version of Sims 3 Try disabling Origin In-Game.

Open up Origin, Go to My Games. Right click on the game, and select Game Properties, check the box to disable Origin in game, for this game. (Sims 3)

Or you can disable it for all games by:

Go to the Origin menu > Application Settings > Origin In Game and make sure it's un-checked.

It's very useful to disable it. I've read numerous times that it cause problems in-game.

The other thing you may want to try is resetting the town.

Reset Town, Individual Sims and/or Evict Household

Well, factory reset seems to work only so far {I'm completely lost on what to move over or how to do such}

So I reset things back to normal renamed the new folder for sims3 to The Sims 3 New and renamed my old folder from The Sims 3 Old to simply removing the 'Old' note. I shall try pretty much moving my household back into Bridgeport complete with their stuff, and see if that helps. If not I will have to go through their things.

I am so happy I found this site, Carl is a genius for making it! Its possibly the only Sims site I know of that has help only moments away!!

Gonna see how this goes with a move back into Bridgeport, if it works and the lag stops, I'll edit here regardless to let you know!

This thread will help with what to move over to your new Sims 3 folder.

Saving folders/files to use on a different computer or to use as backup
http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,16414.msg313134.html#msg313134

But trying to move them to a new game may work just as well.

This is... odd.... Apparently its Bridgeport, the town as a whole, might be causing the lag...... But I am not sure yet, its still loading a new game, got the household and stuff ready to start over in town....

I guess it helps that my household is also zillionairs

It could be the town of Bridgeport. Something that just popped into my head is that does your family have a big house with lots of furnishings and decor? Having lots of furnishing and decor may lag a game as well. Also so will a very landscaped yard.

Thank you for the compliment. It is nice to have friendly forum to ask questions and get quick answers. It's one of the reasons I joined the forum in the first place. :)

I kept adding onto the house as the family grew {one daughter, mother and father, three cats, two birds, three lizards, whole bunchload of fish of various types} Dont get me started on the daughters gemstone collection, holy crud its huge.

Yeah, its a bit laggy, possibly too laggy evne removing back into the same town Going to try another game though, Moonlight Falls. Though I may try sunset valley

And yes, I like forums that have a fast userbase, sometimes I'm on a forum and I'm the only person there, other times its the other way around, like this forum, there are a few folks on, and they're all helpful :)

EDIT: Great now the skin color for all of my sims in this household is all screwed up

This doesn't sound good = Skin color is getting messed up. Maybe try moving the family into a different house - just to test?  How long has it been since you've restarted your computer? - If you've played a long time = more than 2 hours or more it may cause lag no matter what you try in-game.

Its been about 4 hours since I last restarted my laptop for system updates.

Let me try something here, its possible the factory reset screwed something up without intention. I think I need to reinstall some CC..... yep.

Somehow that factory reset screwed up my CC for my Sims characters, it included the skin color in there

So reinstall what custom content you want, and then restart to refresh the computers memory.

I got 4GB ram on this new rig, I got it to play this game in the first place, I can play other games much ram heavier then Sims3 without a problem for hours. {an example is Disney Infinity, love that game!} So I dont understand why now out of the blue that Sims3 starts eating up ram like its candy.

I do not think I will reinstall Riverview though...
