Locust Bug
« on: October 11, 2015, 03:14:58 PM »
I have spent many hours looking for the locust bug.  I want to make walleye surprise!  Any tips on where they are located?  And is it true you need to collect bugs you already have to respawn new bugs? Thanks!!!!

Hi heatherott I've always found the locust in the National Park near to the Rangers Hut but on the way to the 'tunnel' to the Hermit's Area (Deep Woods).  It does help if you collect from all the spawners. It also helps if you make your sim get close to them before clicking 'collect' as I've found that if I click on the bugs when my sim is some distance away that sometimes the bugs will actually disappear before my sim can get there.

What we really need is a map that locates all the spawners. Even though they will spawn different bugs depending on the game file they  are all in the same location each time.

Wow, thanks, Play.  I was looking for a locust to make Walleye's Surprise, but I couldn't remember where my Sims had collected locusts before.  It will be nice to make that dish now, as well as soothing skin balm.

Hehe, no worries. I really like OR and have probably spent way too long collecting bugs and so on.

The insects collection is the only one I've never completed. I wish I knew the location of all the spawners, like some of the veteran players!
My sim captured a locust bug in two separate game files for a forum tournament challenge, but has never been able to capture one since.

Last (RL) month, I took a kleptomaniac sim to the Granite Falls and had him liberate all the insects in the Ranger's Station in the National Park.
If only completing that collection were that easy! *sighs

@oshizu --- Here's a link to info about insects --- with a map of spawner locations in the hermit's area.

I usually find locusts by one of the trees near the waterfall in the National Park. The spot closest to the waterfall spawns dragonflies, but there is another spawner just a bit farther to the right of the falls. If you camp out there, locusts will generally spawn first thing in the morning. Sometimes, the mantis or monarch butterfly spawns in that spot; collect them and wait. Dragon Dragonfly spawns just to the left of the waterfall, also early morning.

One of my Sims just got 2 locust's in that spot, and they were finally able to make Walleye's Surprise.  It looks so well presented on the serving plate.  I'm really excited that I was finally able to do this!
