Travelling from one world to another *Fixed*
« on: September 21, 2015, 09:46:10 PM »
I just got the Sims 4 and don't know how my sims travel from Willow Creek to Oasis Springs. When the world map shows up there are no world selection icons in the upper left corner. Is there a step I'm missing to get world selection, or is the map buggie?

Hi, I'm not too sure what's going wrong for you but have you tried using the 'M' key to get to the map menu as well as the 'Travel' interaction on a sims phone? I haven't had the problem you describe but maybe trying to access the map a different way might help.

Failing that maybe quit the game and restarting it might help. When you have quit out your game if you clear your cache file before restarting that should clean out any bugs.  Instructions on how to clean game cache files.

Hope this helps.  :)

In Live mode (playing your sim) you can click on the road for traveling too.

At anytime you can access the escape menu (esc key or upper right button) in which you can chose manage the world.

There should be a little globe in the upper left corner of the map screen. If you click on that, it will bring up a screen showing Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, and Newcrest (and Magnolia Promenade if you have Get to Work).

Hi Marian,
That's what's missing on the map screen -- the little globes. I've cleared my cache, used both phone and M for travelling but no globes. Could this be a glitch for me?

I'm going to move this to the technical screen where you might get some more helpful information than I can provide. The only other things I can suggest are repairing your game (in Origin, right-click on the picture of the box and choose repair) and re-installing it.

If this happens just with your current save game. Try creating a new game to see if that might help you see the little globes.

Something else that may help is to do a factory Reset:

If they are still missing after trying the tips above, you may want to try what Marian suggested - repair game, and if that doesn't help to reinstall the game. As it sounds like something may have went wrong during install.

Thank you everyone for your help. I've done all of the above and have discovered my game uses travel in a different way than any of the descriptions/tutorials show. If I'm in Willow Creek, a world globe icon shows in upper left, I click that and am taken to a new window with the 3 large circles for the 3 worlds. I can click on Oasis or Newcrest from this new window and return to my homeworld by doing the same thing. Just no little world icons in upper left corner of my screen.

If I'm not mistaken, that's how it's suppose to work? Click the world/globe icon up in the left hand corner that takes you to the World Select Screen. Then you can pick a world from there.

Since this isn't really a technical question, I'm moving it back to the Misc Help Board. Very sorry for the confusion.
