Rules that allow a sim to be caught cheating?
« on: September 17, 2015, 11:10:13 PM »
I vaguely understand how it works; on exam days, the tone "Cheat on Exam" is available. Selecting this at any point, even for 1 second, can enable chance to be caught.

However, my situation is slightly different. I had a Sim select the "Normal Effort" tone during an entire exam, moving the mouse away from the options to avoid selecting the cheat tone in case my slippy hand caught it; somehow he got caught cheating 90% of the way through his first mid-term exam. This appears to knock out 70% of the Sim's academic performance.

What kind of rule coding am I missing here?

A little late but...

Did you make a crib sheet before the exam? If you did, that's what happened. Found this out the hard way myself that even if you don't use them, they can still get you caught.

If I remember right, he had the Computer Whiz trait and used the "Look for Exam Answers" interaction; that's all he did. I suppose it makes sense now.

Edit: What's a crib sheet? ???

A crib sheet is basically a cheat sheet. Where you write the answers to questions you think might come up in the exam. I found a good study method in RL was to make a whole bunch of crib sheets... And leave them at home on the day of the exam, since you remember everything on them because you wrote them lol

Yep - looking up answers as a Computer Whiz counts as an exam cheat, and you can get caught.

Chances of getting caught are much, much lower for high-rank Rebels.

Best way not to get caught, however, is not to cheat at all. So long as your Academic Performance meter is full going in  to the exam, you won't need to cheat. You can count on passing the exam "with flying colors", and will keep the Dean's List moodlet through the weekend.
