It gives a happy +2 positive moodlet and I think also a delicious food one too. Can't quite remember 100% about the delicious moodlet.

It's a gamble though sometimes your sims would love the fruitcake in one game, but when you place it on another game your sims could hate it and give uncomfortable mood instead. The best way to know is by having a bite from the welcome wagon event.
