Sims eating food
« on: August 26, 2015, 02:35:58 AM »
Hi all, been a while since I have been in here. I just have a quick question about the way Sims eat. I have a Sim family of 4, and the two youngest ones, (they are young adults now) hate everything they eat. No matter what they make or have my level 10 cooking Sim make, they make a disgusted face and turn their heads. I am just wondering if this normal or if those Sims just hate to eat.

I'm afraid it's a bug your sims can get after eating the fruit cake brought over by your welcome wagon! There's a link here to the bug report forum where you can read about the bug and add a 'me too' to the report if you want to.

I thought it may be some type of bug or glitch. Thanks for the info. I have found that they don't complain about the "quick meals" though. So I just have them eat cereal or yogurt.

I haven't had this bug as I cancelled the welcome wagon lol. But do your sims also get a negative moodlet or is it just they pull faces when eating?

I don't think I've ever had the welcome wagon show up.  Can you just accept the fruitcake and throw it away later and not eat it?  Does the welcome wagon do or give anything else?  Fortunately my Sims love their food.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

@Joria , I've only had the welcome wagon twice. Once when I finished building teen Winston his new house and once when I started a new game. I don't know if you can take the fruit cake and do anything with it. The welcome 'party' lasts about 4 hours and I had skilling to get to! So I just cancelled it and took the negative hit to the friendships with the neighbors. Meh... easily made up next time you talk to them anyway.

You can cook your own fruit cake, it's a low level gourmet recipe if I remember correctly. Some sims love it and other hate it and pull faces while eating it and then get a negative moodlet... that's where the bug comes in. It's kind of funny as it's pretty true to life, most people either love or hate fruitcake.

No negative moodlet. Just them turning their head in disgust after the first or second bite.

In that case you are probably better off letting them eat normal meals so they get the positive moodlet from eating a cooked meal whereas quick meals give no moodlet. Just a thought.  :)

Thanks for the replies. It must be the bug because I moved in another Sim and she's fine with most of the food she eats and gets the postive moodlets. It's just those two Sims. Weird.

It should be fixed now after the recent patch.

Does anyone know if sims get these hidden traits (loves fruitcake, hates fruitcake) upon creation, or upon consuming fruitcake for the first time?

It's been my experience that all of my snob sims love fruitcake, but I'd have to do some testing to be sure that's true all the time.

My Sims all love the fruitcake, as well as any who just pop in to visit, but I've a very high level chef cooking it so everything she makes is delicious.

I've seen my sim dislike the fruitcake despite the cake in question is impeccable in quality. I guess either there is randomness on it or specific traits are coded to like or dislike the cake. If your sim do love the cake, it is quite powerful food to have since it will never spoils if you haven't completed Master Chef aspirations yet

I think it might be random as a sim of mine (not a snob) loved fruitcake. I started a new game with him from CAS as I got bored with the first game... in the second game he hated fruitcake. Rats! It is such a good food to like, as you've stated, due to it never spoiling etc etc.
