Plasma Plant Info
« on: November 10, 2010, 01:33:16 PM »
So I've been doing some experimenting to figure out the stats for the new plasma fruit that came with Late Night.  And, since I went through all that hard work, I figured the community might as well benefit, as well, right?  :D  So here are the stats I gathered:

Rarity: Special (obviously)
Fertilizer Strength: Outstanding
Harvest Value §26-§80*
Growth Time:
Fertilized w/ Life Fruit: 8 days
No Fertilizer: 12 days
Yield: 2 fruits

*Note: Because there are no Plasma Plant spawners under buydebug, and no "naturally occurring" plants that I've been able to find, the small end of the range refers to, not a "normal" quality fruit, but a "nice" quality, like you would get in a grocery store.

Special Notes:
  • Vampires will eat plasma fruit at times in lieu of "plasma" at the source.
  • It grows on a bush, much like a bell pepper or life fruit.
  • The bush tends to produce one fruit, and then another a few days later, at which time the plant dies.  But I did have one bush that coughed up both fruits at the same time.
  • Having a plasma plant on a lot draws the vampire magic gnome.  Because this is the first time I've ever dealt with plasma plants, I don't know exactly when in the growth process the gnome generates, or even how many plants you have to have to spawn one.  I do know that in my experience, it was generated when my first batch was mature and never went away.  I had at that time three bushes.  I never had a time when I didn't have a plasma plant in some stage of growth, so I'm not sure if the gnome will go away after a few days of no plants.

I'm obsessed with gardening (and currently working on a "perfect" community garden, including plasma) and just had to figure it all out.  Besides, I figured that, as long as I was growing them to get up to the "perfect" level, I might as well take notes.  :D

Hope this helps someone!  ;D

Thank you for all the good info. Be sure to post pics of your garden in the Showboat thread in the Building and Construction forum, when it's done!

Will do!  Right now, I have everything done, all the plants I'll need, the timing worked out (so they all reach maturity on the same day), everything ready to go.  Except for the steak and hamburger patties, of course.  Because I can't get the opportunity to come up!  >:(  So my gardener Sim is just hanging out, trying to do garden-related things around town, until it does.

Question about plasma plants: I've read somewhere else that vampire sims are the only one who can drink plasma nectar without getting sick from it but are imume to flame fruit. So is combing flame fruit with plasma fruit in nectar a waste of flame when created to drink? Or is it good to keep as future profit when aged?

I tried the flame fruit an plasma and afterward it said it was a horrible mixture, but I tried 6 life fruits, 3 flame fruits an 1 plasma and I got all the moodlets and thirst fulfilled.

I think it's buggy, it works for some. but not others.  :-\

But you've tested this on both vampires and sims? What did it do to sims?

I only tried with vamps since I didn’t think to try on a regular sim, since the guide claimed it make them sick.

Great job Caitie!  I also am enamored with gardening, RL and Sims!  I haven't planted any plasma fruit yet but will search for the special seeds and give it a shot.  One question, can you replant the fruit to obtain more plants?  If so one seed can then produce two plants etc. etc.  That would be way cool.

It is easy to tell which special seeds are plasma, they glow red.  Also for planting, you can plant the fruit no problem.  You do not need a seed.  If you didn't want to search for a seed you could always just go to the store and buy a plasma fruit there.  You do have to be level 7 gardener though.

The plasma plant seed is really easy to spot; it pulses red.  And, yes, you can replant it.  And it works just like a normal plant -- you replant it, the fruit are one level better, and with the Super Green Thumb lifetime reward lets you plant plants that are one level better, etc.

It really shouldn't be a special seed, since you can buy it in the store. That just reduces the chance from 1 in 4 to 1 in 5 that a collected special seed will be a money tree seed.

No, it doesn't.  The plasma plant seed pulses red.  It's very noticeable.  So if the special seed doesn't pulse red, it can't be a plasma plant seed.  Your chances are still 1 in 4.   :)

I disagree, but I won't argue the point.
