I'm personally happy that these are including all-new item types that will give Sims more to do, and aren't really just stuff. Lite game packs, I suppose. I'll be on top of this one tomorrow, which I guess we can expect to get around 1-2pm Forum time.

It makes it a better proposition for some people when it comes to buying these things.

Anyways, I have a doctor's appointment during the time this normally releases, so if someone puts up the link, etc. before me...thanks ahead of time!

I got the SP using Carl's link. I got one of the Ice Cream makers and had a sim make some. The finished ice cream goes into their inventory when it's done and you can put it out on the counter but you can't put it in the fridge. That just doesn't seem right. Is it just me?

Thanks for using the link, guys. I definitely am grateful for the support.

I'm going to direct guide visitors here for the day and retract that I'll have something out later. Family in the hospital with a sudden problem so I won't be releasing anything today.

Looks like the pack has decent content, ice cream gives good moodlets akin to gourmet cooking, while a small selection offer emotional boosts and unique effects, like the chilling one. As usual, I'm more interested in the impact on gameplay.

I love the ice cream maker and all the new flavors and all that. Some of the new decorations are fun and add some flair to the kitchen. I love some of the clothes added and made my culinary sim use the apron full body outfit for party attire. However, I am a little disappointed in the lack of dishwashers to choose from (it's just the one from the free update), the lack of trash compactors (although the garbage can that gives simoleons might be better, honestly), and the lack of ovens and refrigerators. Oven and fridges seem to be the first thing to come to mind when thinking about a kitchen.. Only 1 new oven and 1 new fridge are added. They're quite stylish, but their stats suck (low reliability, low food quality). I still grabbed the oven though. I'm also disappointed that you cannot add the ice cream to the freezer/fridge. When you make it, you have a countdown to spoil status. Maybe that'll be updated in a future update. But just imo, my score is a 6/10 at the moment. Has great potential, but overall not the best pack (but not as bad as the luxury party stuff pack; probably because of ice cream). I am all for new additions to The Sims 4 though. It's becoming a wonderful game. I just feel that the Cool Kitchen pack should've just been either a free update or just a couple dollars.

@brushedred Welcome to the forum and thanks for sharing that. I find that a very balanced assessment, though I didn't even get to look at appliances myself yet. The ice cream thing does need work. You should definitely get to store it without taking a bowl out at a time (if that even works).

It seemed cones were quite nice since you have this in your inventory and it can give the best food-related moodlets in a portable form. Very useful with the fresh chef reward trait.

Female hairstyles are fabulous, that was a nice surprise. I guess all in all its worth it given what I've paid for things in the past, though some will definitely want to wait on a sale.

I suspect the problem with putting ice cream in the fridge isn't with the ice cream maker, but rather with the refrigerator class of objects. Refrigerators still don't allow the harvestables from the new plant species introduced in the Outdoor Adventure pack either. (Huckleberry, Muckleberry, etc.) It's like they only accept stuff from the base game and need to be updated to allow more types of foods to be deposited into them. I'm surprised that the folks at EA didn't see this... It should have been included in last week's base game update, before the ice cream machine was released.

5 Fantastical Ice Cream Flavours to Create in The Sims 4 Cool Kitchen Stuff

More Than Vanilla

The Sims 4 Cool Kitchen Stuff* released this week, and brought with it a variety of items made to upgrade and outfit your Sim’s kitchen. It also includes new gameplay by way of the Ice Cream Machine – a perfect treat for any foodie Sims looking to create decadent desserts.

There are 30 different flavors to create, many of which you’re likely familiar with. Vanilla? Yeah, it’s in there. Chocolate? You’d better believe it. Orange Sorbet, Mint Chocolate Chip, and Rainbow Sherbet? Obviously. But besides the flavours you’d expect to find at your nearest freezer, there are some that are a little more… outstanding.

Dragon's Breath proves that ice cream doesn’t have to be cold! Well, that’s not entirely true – it’s still cold, it’s also just a little… hot. Like, make your Sim’s mouth burn hot. Like, they might mistakenly catch on fire if they eat it hot.

Haunted Mint is the spookiest of the ice cream flavors in the stuff pack. Yes, you read that right: spooky. As the name suggests, Haunted Mint is indeed a ghostly treat. Sims that eat it not only get a buff, but they might be visited by an apparition after they finish their snack. Boooooo!

Twin Roses is so full of flavor, your Sims might just get Flirty after they eat it. Well, that’s how older Sims react, at least. Children that try Twin Roses end up Happy, instead, proving that the ice cream is the perfect treat for everyone.

Plant Matter is one of those fancy schmancy ice creams made from “natural” ingredients. Sims that eat it will have a desire to relax in the water – plants need water, after all. Also, ever hear the term “you are what you eat?” That applies here, too, so… uh… watch out for leaves.

Chilling Mocha might not actually give your Sim a brain freeze, but it’ll do the next best thing: let your Sim give others a freeze. After chowing down on the Chilling Mocha, your Sim might get a special one-time-use Interaction called Chilling Touch which does just what it sounds like. (Warning: There’s also a chance your Sim will turn blue after eating it. Just FYI!)

There are other weird flavours to make and try in The Sims 4 Cool Kitchen Stuff Pack  – have you tried any yet? If not, your Sims are missing out on some truly sweet treats!

So I thought I'd share a little of what my sim has been up to with his new ice cream maker.

He started with Dragon's Breath for no particular reason. He didn't seem to be enjoying eating it particularly although, in between trying to fan away the 'hotness', he made enough 'yummy' sounds to make me think it probably was pretty tasty.

I did second guess the enjoyability rating on eating Dragon's Breath when he pulled this face at me!

And then it started. As he sat down to write a novel his stomach growled quite alarmingly.

Before he knew what was happening fire was burped out quite forcefully.

Funny thing was that no matter how often it happened...

He seemed rather bemused about what had just occurred!

I played around with this for a while hoping to catch something/anything on fire and then realized that my sim had the Naturalist trait and so was immune to fire! Maybe a sim without this could do more damage? Not sure but if I find out I'll edit this post and let you know. *Edited: Yep setting things on fire is a possibility with this flavour. Including your own sim!

Plant Matter.

My sim didn't seem to see the funny side of turning green. Gave me a giggle!

He was rather surprised to see little green leaves sprouting from his skin too.

"What? No! it can't be... is that a leaf?"

No matter where he sat....

Or what he did.... little green leaves continued to sprout.

Rather than making him look like a plant sim though I think it made him look more like the Incredible Hulk. Perhaps if he hadn't been doing so much yoga though we could have got a different look going on!

Never seemed to stop surprising him though! lol

Cute! Poor Julien, having to be a guinea pig. I finally succumbed and got this. I have to finish my challenge before I can try it, though.
