Elder Scrolls: Race to Immortality

Goal
Congrats! You've entered the twilight of your life and are now an Elder. Modern Maturity subscription? Check. Talked to your local travel agent for that awesome around the world cruise? Check. Have everything in hand to make Ambrosia? *gulps* What?! You better get on that pronto before Grim shows up, grandpa. In fact, unless you want to be the laughing stock at that next shuffleboard tournament you need to see if you can make Ambrosia faster than your old fogey friends. Need me to speak louder?

General Challenge Rules
The General Challenge Rules always apply. If applicable, exceptions will be noted below.

Specific Challenge Rules
  • The Spa Day Game Pack is banned.
  • The Cool Kitchen Stuff Pack is banned.
  • Create one Elder Sim.
  • You are allowed to use the Buydebug cheat for the sole purpose of purchasing a satellite to prevent abductions.
  • No adding to the household.
  • The Science career is banned.
  • Traveling to the Science lot is banned.
  • Completing more than one Aspiration is fine, but no switching Aspirations until the first one is completed.
  • The Fortune Aspirations are banned.
  • This challenge ends when your Elder Sim has made and eaten Ambrosia. In the event you did not achieve this before Grim visits you, then post your score as DNF.

Scoring

Scoring is the total game minutes played in order to make and eat Ambrosia.

Minutes — When your Elder Sim has finally made and eaten Ambrosia, then pause your game and note your age as well as the game clock time (hour, minutes and AM or PM). Plug in all the necessary info into Lena's spreadsheet and it will calculate the total minutes that you needed to finish.

Ch-Ch-Changes
The team does not want to edit and make changes to the ruleset once this event goes live, but we may have to. If an exploit is brought to our attention or we discover something else we reserve the right to ask affected players to redo their effort.

Have Questions?
Please think hard before you ask in the challenge thread because it may be strategy. What you may consider an innocent question could cause another player to go — “oh, I did not think of doing that.” It’s always safer to PM everyone on the team (Metro, ratchie, Nutella, LenaLJ, Trip, MarianT, and Blackrosea) for clarifications. Thanks.

And the Winner is...
After this event has closed everyone is encouraged to discuss how they approached the event, but the winner especially is expected to do so in detail.

Metro, I'm a bit confused.  Must each aspiration be completed before choosing a new one or are we free to switch uncompleted aspirations once the first one has been completed?

Let me clarify that with what I feel the team had intended.

How about "no switching aspirations until the current one is complete."

Also, your challenge titles are becoming more and more hilarious. As a gamer, I get the reference you made with this challenge. Also, this is a good challenge to help those who want to try out the Immortal Dynasty by helping them learn how to create Ambrosia.  ;)

DEAR EA: Before you create a Sims 5, I humbly suggest you edit the Potion of Youth in this game so that it does not share the same properties of Ambrosia. Many of us people doing the Immortal Dynasty are VERY p'ed off that we have to make Ambrosia which is more labor-intensive than simply just buying the Potion of Youth itself and drinking it. May I suggest changing the Potion of Youth's effect to the same effect as the Young Again Potion from The Sims 3 Generations?
I play The Sims 4 for fun, so I don't care if I never end up being interviewed for the Dynasty Hall of Fame; people who play for keeps burn out too easily and don't enjoy playing the games, so I am going to not sweat the details.

Because the way the rule reads now it reflects the team's feeling that we do not care if there is switching after the first Aspiration is done.

Glad you like the title ;).

I'm going to turn Tiber Septim into Talos again :).  It's just a question of how quickly I can do it.

How do we manage not using the Spa Day Game pack? Do we uninstall it while participating in the challenge or just be very careful not to use any of the interactions or items etc?

Uninstalling it would be the safest route because if you do not do that, then you'll have to make a list of everything you can't do - Wellness skill, going to the spa, etc.

I'm very interested in finding out how we can uninstall certain EP's.
So far, I have not been able to uninstall a particular segment of TS4.

Edit to add: No without installing almost everything else, that is.

Sadly there is no real option to do that, EA hasn't made it easy for us in this case.

I think if you don't work on the wellness skill, don't place the spa, and don't use the furniture (incense burners, massage table, etc.), you'll be okay.

Tixxis pointed out a little possible trick, so we're making things a bit harder - sorry, we're making this ban at the last minute...

  • The Fortune Aspirations are banned.

Thank you, Tixxis.

Dr Who finished in 12955 minutes. I'm sure I'll be at the top of the leader board for an hour or two. Good luck to everyone  :)
