sparkling elder age bar.
« on: July 12, 2015, 07:10:40 AM »
I haven't played an elder sim before and I was just wondering if their life bar should sparkle when it is full. Shayne in my dynasty is around 31 days older than hebe who is 115 days old. Is 146 days a usual age for a sim to get to. We had a pop up two sim weeks ago to say Shayne didn't have long left. That's when he began to sparkle.

Shayne is a former townie sim, right?  Their ages when they become elders seem to be totally random. And yes, if his bar is sparkling, that means the end is near. If  he's been exercising a lot, though, he'll have a day or two longer.

His bar's been sparkling for 2 sim weeks? That seems really long. Did he have the Bodybuilder aspiration when he moved in? One of my helpers did, which I changed, of course, and he did live about a week longer than the others who started out at the same age.

No he has the collecting type aspiration. He exercise autonomously quite a bit. He is a life stage older than Hebe who is just over halfway through elder hood. Or another way Rose was born after he turned elder and she is two weeks into the teen life stage.

Okay, so he's been an elder for 2 weeks? They usually last 10 days, but 4 days over is possible if he's been exercising. Grim should be showing up soon.

He has been an elder for 22 or 23 days. He turned elder around the time Rose was born. She is 1 week into teenhood. We got the message saying he didn't have long about 13 or 14 sims days ago when he would have been 10 days at elder.

Does your sim have the active trait by any chance?

That's probably why he's living so long then.  :) I've had my suspicions about that trait, haven't done any testing on it as I always forget but it's worth looking into.

I've also had a couple of elders live really long after their age bar started sparkling. At least 2 of them had the active trait. I wonder if the active trait somehow lowers the change they will die each day?

And here I was thinking that with Sims 4, we wouldn't have the problem of spouses and helpers living too long. J in my dynasty had the active trait, too, but I think he only lived another 5 or 6 days past his 2nd notice from Grim.

They get two notices? Shayne has just had the one so far.

My legacy founder had the active trait and he lived for so long that I thought he was glitched so I killed him through mortification... I needed the death for the scoring anyway. I've had other sims, townies with the active trait that have lived for the extended 20 days of being an elder (20 days is normal length for an active sim) and others that have only last the usual 10. I think how much weight training or whatever, they do has an impact on how long they live but I'm not 100% sure how it works. I've got an elder spouse in my dynasty now, ex-townie, who has the active trait who I haven't let do any sort of fitness after then initial 'lose weight or else' stage... be interesting to see how long she lives for. She's about 11 days into her elderhood now and had her first warning a while ago.
