Where is the money coming from?

I had this happen to me once. My Sim family suddenly had $98,000 more. This completed my Sim's LTW. I couldn't figure out where it came from. It's nice to know I'm not the only one. It was before LN and after FL and my Sim didn't own a car.

It's happened to me 3 times with different households. It's always $20.000, and I have never got any message related to it. My sims never own cars because my game gets laggy, and only one of the families had superstar members. None of them where writers or anything like it that could have made them get the misterious money. Not that I'm complaining but it's really weird. The first time I realized it had happened was right after installing Late Night but it might have happened before that, who knows.

I don't ever remember it happening before LN.  It does not happen as frequently in my game as it did and I got no where near 20,000.  Oh well, every little bit helps, lol.

This has never happened to me. . although saying that the sims is no longer really about money for me. It's a bit like christmas chocolate. when you havn't got it you want it, when you have you want rid of it  .

I have this happen to me frequently, three times today for 5000+ each time, and many times in the past.  I noticed today that each time I got unexpected money, I also got a message saying that a Sim that my Sim knew had died.  Is it possible that the money from nowhere is actually an inheritance(probably a buggy one)?

I think maybe there are two or more different situations here? In my case it's always been $20.000 at once, only once per household. I've read others say the same thing (maybe more than once per household but that might be just luck). Two of my three lucky families got it right after I had created them, so I am sure it was not an inheritance (since they didn't know anybody in town). This one is probably a nice bug (maybe to make it right for all the other nasty ones! lol). I think in your case might have been an inheritance though - I don't know about The Sims 3, but I had this happen in The Sims 2 at least. In that case the amount could perfectly change from one case to another depending on how wealthy the dead sim was. Does anyone know if sims can actually inherit their friends' money?

Maybe I'm just talking nonsense here but I really think that both cases are not the same thing.
