Where is the money coming from?

I have read here and there in other threads about phantom money that keeps popping up, so I decided to start its own thread to maybe see if anyone has any idea where this money is coming from.  My single sim that I just made was sleeping and got over $2000.00 while she slept and she just started her acting career.  This has happened in another game too, so where is it coming from?  I am not complaining, mind you, but it is maybe just another weird glitch or bug that is in our sims favor.  I have tried finding out through the internet and there is not really any info on it, unless I missed something somewhere.  Maybe someone else knows something.

Celebrity gifts?  Just a guess.  I haven't had this happen in my games.

I have had gifts and the message will come up in the right hand corner.  Only thing I can think of, is maybe it does has something to do with the celebrity status.  Oh well, I don't mind getting a few extra dollars, but still would like to know where it comes from, lol.

I had random money come once and someone said that it was some kind of odd car value glitch.  The game was randomly giving the player the value of a vehicle.  I haven't had it happen since then, though, and it's been a few months now.

I've noticed this with my non-celebrity Sims.  I've seen different values ranging from $900-2200 occurring at different times in the day.  With this and the mysterious $1500 books left at my front door every few days my Sims hardly need a job!

I just had this happen to me.  My Sim was sitting at the computer writing a book in the library when I heard the money making sound and a +2800 float across.  It was on a Tuesday and so it wasn't her royalties.  It just came from now where.  And I liked it.

I have never had books left on my door, but that sounds good to me.  I love the money thing, just wish I knew what it was from.  I have not had a non celebrity get any, but my sim got another 1900 last time I played.  Alrighty then, keep it coming.

Had this recently as well.  It might be part of the patches.  I had to uninstall everything and just playing Vanilla sims for a bit and got a wish to be worth more than X. That night while the sim was sleeping I got a 60,000 simoleon pop.

Needless to say I was caught off guard and really confused.  This was week 1 in that sims life. 

Installed LN yesterday and have had some smaller ones sicne - like 2000ish and so on.

You guys seem to be saying that this is a frequent occurence. It just happened in my game once. 20,000 dollars.
