How do you choose the lot zone? Say, if you choose a dance club, how to turn into a poolside club?

In edit town there is an option for each lot to switch between residential and community lot. If you choose community lot, you will also get a drop-down list where you can chose the lot zone. Just keep the lot community and change the dropdown list from dance club to poolside club.

I have started building a sports bar.  I have both sport sets from the Sims store (Love & Sports).  I love it!  I have to finish the landscaping and outdoor eating area.  My test run was great.  All items are functional (did a lot of moveobjects on and disabled snapping on grid).  My Sim was there long enough to try everything out once (less than a Sim hour) and the place got busy!  The mixologist showed up within minutes of going into live mode.  A few Sim minutes later the customer Sims showed up too.  Here are some pics:

The bar

The TV area

Behind the TV area there is the shuffleboard and hockey foosball

Arcade games, foosball, door to the undeveloped eating area

Other side of the room, there is a dart board

What do you think?

Great looking sports bar!!  Looking forward to seeing the finished product when you get the eating area and the landscaping done.

That's a sweet sports bar. Did you get to choose the bartenders uniform or was that just a lucky coincidence?

In the drop down menu when you change from residential to community, it has sports bar as one of the options.  I am not sure if that would spawn a bartender to wear that or not, but that is awesome.  You did a really good job on it.  I have a couple I want to work on, maybe on my next days off. :D

Here is the outside.  I like it, especially the outdoor eating area.  Most of the decor items I used out there are from the 'Every Bottle Wins' Dr. Pepper promotion.  I will put this up on the exchange sometime tonight, but I am not sure if I should take out the items or leave it.  What are your thoughts?

gerrr, you did a terrific job and I really like this lot.  I have the Dr. Pepper items, so if I were to download as you have it, I think my lot would look like yours.  When you put it on the exchange, the Dr. Pepper items would not show up if someone did not have them.  I'm not even sure if the game would recognize the items to substitute them for base game items.
You might want to put a note it your upload that it does contain these items or else see what you can substitute without it taking away from the style before you actually upload.
And please let me know when you do so I can download it.  ;)

Bradley's Place, the sports bar, is up and ready to download on the exchange.  Shameless plug here... I also uploaded a new garden that includes perfect  plasma fruits.  :)

Wow! I love the bar gerrr00! It looks real! Sorry for a silly question, but what is a "plug"? Is it something that goes with something else? Thanks :)

To plug something is to publicize a product.  I don't know if you ever watch talk shows, but they will have an actor on the show and they talk about the movie they are going to be in, the actor is plugging his new movie.  Make sense?

Glad you love the bar!  I have my Sim go there all the time, I like it too.   ;)
