There are several ways to get carrots:
*Buy a gardening pot or gardening planter then have your sim click on it. Buy the veggies seed packet which may contain carrots (the selection varies with each packet, but carrots are one of the stock options)
*Find a produce stall in San Myshuno and buy all your carrots there
*Plant one or more carrots in your garden and harvest your own carrots
*Go out in the world and find carrot plants, then wait for them to become harvestable (see the Plant Locations PDF on Carl's Guide for the Gardening skill.

Good luck @Rainbowz

So the strawberries & pop no longer seem to be influencing baby genders since the latest 2 patches? Anyone?

@MdmN
I noticed that early last month, but haven't been simming since mid-March.
My sims ate 18 of the required fruit/veggie and listened the appropriate music, but it didn't work the way it used to.
And I was playing a vanilla game without cc or mods.

I just recently played a game where I wanted my sim to have all girls, and had no problem with strawberries changing the baby to a girl.  I do have the advantage of using MCCC to peek, and see if it's worked yet.  On average it seemed to take about 5 or 6.
