40x40 lot in Bridgeport?
« on: November 02, 2010, 06:35:22 PM »
I have a really nice house, and do not want to loose it. Sadly, it is 40x40, and I can't find any place to put it. I've even axed one of the smaller 30x30 lots and tried to place the 40x40 there. It works, but isn't aligned to the road, which is a  HUGE turn off..

Is there a good place to place a 40x40 lot? :(

I'm not sure but have you tried removing a nightclub or something along the lines of that? As far as I'm aware there are no 40x40 lots in Bridgeport, but I can't confirm that.

I tend to avoid removing pre-built lots in new towns..

There are NO 40x40 lots in Bridgeport.

There are no spaces where you can put a 40x40 lot.

To obtain a 40x40 lot you would have to bulldoze an existing spot.

How do I know this?  Because I'm actively remodeling Bridgeport to make it more useful for those with skill/opportunity issues and because I hate the way it currently looks.  Mind you, I don't mind the big city look to it, that's fine.  I just dislike overall mudscape and there are ways to fix this.

There are at least two. One on each side of the school. Sure, for the first one you have to pretty much flatten the larger part of a hill to be able to build anything, and on the second one there's a playing field of some sort (you can just paint over that, though) but both these spaces have room for even a 50x50 lot.

They're not perfect, but usable.

First: welcome to the forum wkw427.

Now back to your question: if you want to have a 40x40 lot in your town and didn't find a proper place you can also place a empty 40x40 lot yourself.
That feature cames with Ambitions and I thought it came with a patch to.

Do you think you could take a picture of where you've gotten it?

Yes, I know. I mentioned that I tried deleting an empty 30x30 and placing the 40x40, but it wouldn't align to the road

Number 1 and 3 are both on hills, but that can be fixed (though it could look weird).
Number 2 is flat but there's a baseball/soccer/football (I really don't know sports) field on it. Not sure if it's used or not so I don't know if it would affect anything, but it can be painted over with the terrain tool (with a 50x50 lot you'll pretty much cover the entire field, so you can paint all of it) and it can be built on.

There may be more, but these are the only ones I've found. Like I said, they're not perfect, but with a few adjustments they're fine.

It begs the question: Why create such a massive area with almost no building space?

No building space? I have a 40x40 lot I've been using forever and don't want to recreate it.

Granted, the house was built for I think 20x30 or 30x30, but I decided to expand it when I moved to Twinbrook

You're right, BUT....(lol), the playing field is actually part of the school complex although not part of it's lot.  Some of it, the bleachers I believe, are part of the school, so it would look really dumb to put a building there unless you removed the bleachers.  Which, of course, is totally possible.

I did put a building on the other spot but it was pretty tricky getting things lined up and looking ok.  Check out my post on the Showboat thread to see what I mean.

I'm thinking there may be more sports type stuff coming along, like some of the things we already have, or rather to use them, so covering up the playing field is on hold for me.

Gee.. I'm so stupid. Instead of trying to flatten land to place a 40x40 lot... Why didn't I just look for an empty 40x40 lot!

Huzah!
