Moving a saved game
« on: November 02, 2010, 01:06:20 PM »
I play the Sims on my desktop and my laptop.  I want only certain game files from my laptop to go onto the other computer.  Is it safe to copy and paste into the save folder, even though it was from a different computer?  Also should I copy the .sims3 and the .sims3.backup?  Thank you for the help!

If this has already been discussed and I overlooked the topic, sorry.

My first reaction is that it should be fine, but it's also possible that the files are coded to one computer.  So, I really don't know for sure.

It would have to work. Otherwise, no one would be able to share files at the Exchange, etc. with other users.

The .sims3 file is the latest save; the .sims3.backup is the second to latest. What you probably want to do is to copy the .sims3 one, but if you for some reason wants the second to latest, then you have to re-name the .sims3.backup file to have only the ending .sims3. Otherwise the computer won't recognise it as a save file.
