Massive Problem Concerning Patching.
« on: November 01, 2010, 11:05:03 PM »
Alright, I installed the game correctly and all, but when I start downloading the updates, the stupid thing freezes at 99 percent. I have tried every workaround but nothing seems to work. This has been happening since the Summer and has totally destroyed my Sims 3 experience. Please, please tell me how to resolve this.

Welcome to our Forum, Mikecari.

Have you done a complete uninstall and reinstall of the game?  It's always a good idea to periodically do this as it helps the game run smoother in general.

Thank you for that help, but now I'm getting a feature transfer error: catrastrophic failure whenever it's near completion. Also, I'm not a new member, (been here since last year) please help.

Hi,

I have been having nothing but issues attempting to update my game.

I will offer you a few snippets of advice.

Sometimes it is just best to manually uninstall the game, remember to always save a copy of your registry as it details in the guide. Reboot you PC after unistalling.

I would then ensure that your video card is completely up to date.

There is an awesome program out there called CCleaner, it is completely free it will delete all your temp files from locations that you may not even know about. It also has a registry cleaner function too. I would download that and run both elements before running a defrag, now the company that has CCleaner for absolutely free also has a defraggler so if you are running a system such as Vista you will be able to see the defrag process much clearer.

Once you have done this reinstall much like in the guide, I found that each expansion pack updates the base game and those before, so you should only have to worry about the latest patch.

I am steering clear of the Late night patch until they have patched the patch lol

I hope this help :)
Everything happens for a reason, sometimes we have to wait a long time for the reason to become clear.

Lol, thanks for the help, but I finally found out the problem today. Guess what, the reason why I kept getting the error was because my profile didn't have administrator access. I was wondering why no one else got this error, but I realized it had to have been my parental control software acting up. Luckily, that evil program is now burning in cyber jail.
