Question About Ambrosia
« on: November 28, 2009, 09:58:52 AM »
Hello

I have been Reading Carl's Sims 3 guide for a bit and I've made my first batch of Ambrosia.   ;D

What I would like to know is, can I get any ghost to eat it that you find in the Graveyard or does it only work on past loves that are ghosts?

Thanks for your help.

Welcome to our Forum, James!

I've actually done some research on this recently.  You can give Ambrosia to any ghost.  I had my Sim take a serving of Ambrosia to the cemetary a few times.  I laid it on the ground close to where ghosts were hanging around and they quickly started coming for it.  I believe they know what it is and what it will do.  The funny part was when one would pick it up to eat it, then get distracted by another ghost and start doing that thing where they try to wave off the other ghost, like they're scared or grossed out or something.  They would lay the Ambrosia on the ground, wave their arms, then wander off.  Another ghost would pick it up and the same thing would happen.  Sometimes 3 or 4 ghosts would try to eat it before one was successful.  Once eaten, the ghost turns back to flesh and runs off, presumably going home.  I did the same thing in my private family cemetary for my legacy family where 9 generations of my Dreamweaver family are buried.  One of the ancestors ate the Ambrosia and then walked across the street and into the family mansion.  At that moment, she came back under my control!  Wow!  I wasn't expecting that!

So, yes, you can give Ambrosia to any ghost you see.

So I was doing it right when I laid it next to a ghost. :)

And I thought I did it wrong as well.  Well, thanks for the info Pam. I'm heading back to the graveyard to resurrect a ghost.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong or if this is a bug with WA/the new patch...

I want to make some of my playable ghosts 'alive' and so I had my level 10 cooking sim (a living sim) make ambrosia.  I cancelled her trying to eat it as I know you need to.  However, none of the (playable) ghosts have the option to eat it, though all of the living sims do.  I have tried placing it by a ghost, at their feet, on a table in front of them etc and they won't go near it.  Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know a way round it?  If it's been programmed out or if it's a bug I'll be very grumpy!  I have no desire to make my living sims younger but I do want to make some of my ghosts living.

Hi Rad and welcome to the Forum!

I had this issue once.  Try putting the Ambrosia in the refrigerator, then have the ghost eat it as a leftover.

Hmmm.  And you say you have control of this ghost?  What happens when you click on the Ambrosia with the ghost?  What options come up?  My next suggestion would be to wait until the ghost's hunger bar is very low and then put the Ambrosia in front of him/her.

I've heard it has to be perfect life fruit and perfect death fish. Did you use them? That's all I can think could be the problem apart from a glitch/bug.

Yes, they're perfect.

The normal sims get the options to eat ambrosia, put away leftovers and clean up.  The ghosts just get put away leftovers and clean up.  They can't eat leftover ambrosia and the hunger of the sim makes no difference, just seems like the new patch screwed it up, just when I got my first playable ghosts to resurrect.  Sigh...

Maybe you should try inviting a non-playable ghost to eat it?

Phew!  Looks like it's one of those glitches that comes and goes, as when I reloaded the game a third time, my sim could finally eat the ambrosia. Hooray!

This is incorrect.  Ambrosia will always turn out perfect regardless of the quality of the ingredients.

No worries, Samoht!  We're all here to learn new things.  There's a lot of "I heard" on the Internet about the Sims 3, so we like to clarify whenever possible.
