I put all the bridgeport community lots in SV (with difficulty) but I didn't change the terrain afterwards (I didn't know that was a good idea). I just made sure they faced the road. My sim has been to a couple of them already with no problem getting inside, so I  guess what I'm saying is do you have to fiddle with terrain? Or do you just want them to look particularly nice?
And I didn't bulldoze any lots that had houses/community lots on them, they were all new lots, though I bulldozed some empty lots, and I kinda had to stick them anywhere, nearly none of them are right next to the road.

Instead of trying to add Bridgeport buildings to other towns, I think it's more practical to create new venues.  I think the only Bridgeport building you really need is the movie studio thing (unless you really want some apartment buildings).

How do you get visitors to your lot if they aren't next to the road? Did you have to make a pathway to the road after you placed it? I never considered that options because I didn't think the Sims could visit if it wasn't right on the road.

@Joria, your town looks great. I was really hesitant to even try to do any of that. I don't like to bulldoze my lots but you have inspired me. Perhaps I will give it a try. I attempted to download the CAW tool but I guess my internet speed is yucky because it keeps timing out. :(

I haven't got the expansion pack yet, but I think I'm going to convert Redwood Parkway (down the road from Agnes' house) into Sunset Valley's party district. It's central, has attractive views, and contains three empty (albeit small, at 40x30, 40x30 and 25x30) lots. From what I hear the clubs in Bridgeport are much bigger, but I'm going to try building new clubs especially for Sunset. The other clubs can just fit in around the rest of the town, perhaps down Oak Grove Road, which is pretty close to Redwood and has two empty lots. This way I don't have to bulldoze any lots, which is great. I hope it works, fingers crossed.

PlatnumDymand, your Sims will just run across the ground if they're aren't any pathways, like to the fishing spot behind the Sports Stadium in Sunset Valley. And I agree with you, Joria's done a fantastic job on Sunset Valley and Riverview :).

Which specific buildings at the minimum would be necessary to place in a town, in order to have full Late Night play? Is it necessary to have numerous bars of varying quality?

Oh, I like the idea of making clubs that have a more SV appearance, maybe one or two stories tall instead of skyscrapers. I wonder if you could move a skyscraper onto the lots and delete most of the floors, keeping the interior decorating and exterior landscaping intact.

Edit to add: after some trial and error I learned that you can't remove stories or portions of the skyscraper buildings, but there are several nice bars and dance clubs that do have a lower profile, especially the two beautiful ones from bonus content preorders.

My first question still stands, though.

You really can't do much with the Bridgeport buildings except inside.  You get messages like, "homeowners association does not permit that".  I put those buildings in my towns just to show it can be done and a couple of good places to do it in.  I'm not keeping them there because even in a brighter town they are still really gloomy/dirty looking.  My intent is to take a building, like that awesome one samoht made for Pam, the colorful one, and turn it into a club.  Second choice would be to take one of the places from Twinbrook,  Red something hang out, and turn that into a dance club/bar.  With very little tweaking that particular building, (It has 3 floors I believe), could easily house pretty much anything and everything you'd find in Bridgeport and do it all in one building that would be a much closer match to SV and RV.  Our gang has uploaded so many awesome buildings I really wouldn't have to build my own but I wouldn't upload theirs and call it mine.  THAT is not kosher!  I would show you guys pics of it but give credit to whomever's house I borrowed.

Aria....idea for building contest?  Build X type club in X town.  Details to follow if you are interested.
What?  Grannies can't play games?

Sounds like some great ideas :). Converting existing buildings would definitely solve some space problems and keep in with the feel of the town. I think there's a couple in Riverview (the 'Watering Hole' bar, the big warehouse in the industrial area) that could be converted without too much fuss. And I love the idea of a club-building challenge, it'd provide a lot of awesome buildings for those of use who aren't as skilled (ie. me).

LlamaMama, I was wondering the same, and in order to finish mixology challenge (professor something - learn 42 popular drinks) you need 9 buildings, listed in Carl's guide for mixology skill. I haven't tried but it might work to name lot in vampire bar in edit town (when you choose "comunity" you get many many option to choose from) and after placing bar, maybe you'll get to order and learn same drinks as you would in Plasma bar in BP. Other than that, I don't see any other reason to put all buildings. Beside bars and dancing clubs, I think that the only really new one is Film Studio.

Thank you all for pointing out that CAW tool in edit town, I haven't seen it nor use it before. Joria, you have some great ideas!

Has anyone uploaded any of their Late Night converted SV worlds in the Exchange by any chance? Or any of their SV friendly Late Night club creations?  I would LOVE some links please! :)  I'm going to try some of the "off road" suggestions I've read here, but I really don't want to delete many of my pre-created houses/family in SV (like the Altos, etc).  Any help would be greatly appreciated as I personally fall short in the 'Building' creativity zone...   :o

I agree with Joria, I have been experimenting most of the evening with Riverview and adding the Bridgeport buildings.  What an easy town to add these buildings to.  I have had a blast.  I put the Plasma 501 in and took out the ropes so my little sims could get in and what a difference.  I put in the subways too, one close to her house and one close to where she works, it is alot quicker, if she is finishing up in the morning.  I have her miss her carpool and then take the subway.  All it takes is a 10 x 10 lot and I put a couple of trees and a couple of lights and it turns out pretty cool.  The land is flat and I took out some fence posts where the Brokes live, sort of like that trailer park.  Eventually, will not be able to recognize the town anymore. ;D

Only thing was, Jon Lesson turned out to be a vampire and Don Lathario is a one star celeb.  The Cantina's are vampires too.  Jon's elder girlfriend died at a party and she was a vampire and turned into a red ghost and it was right after my sim told Jon to break up with her, maybe she died of a broken heart, well, it could happen, lol.  Alot of interesting stuff has happened in my game and now I need to go to bed, darn, otherwise, I would probably stay up way to late.

WHAT?!!  You sleep??? lol  Geez, even in my dreams I'm playing this game and figuring out what could go where.

I never thought of putting in the subways!  Great idea.

I am really bummed Jon became a vampire.  I really hate it when the game arbitrarily turns perfectly good Sims into something so nasty.  I could understand if it was the Altos but Jon ?  Not right!

I played in (ugh), Bridgeport today.  It is actually starting to look more "Portland-ized".   All it takes is some trees actually.  Gee, even the Big Apple has trees lining many of the sidewalks, and Central Park is huge.  And don't forget the cherry tree lined streets in DC!  I feel sad for big city folk who live in dreary big cities instead of the vibrant and pretty ones I'm so fond of.  Of course, they have their dark, dreary, slum areas but not the entire city!  You know what Bridgeport looks like?  A city after a huge pyroclastic flow hit it.  Reminds me of Mt. St. Helen, or Portland when the ash was falling.

I sidetracked myself.  What I was about to share was you can't put Barnacle Bay buildings in Bridgeport no matter what the size of the lot.  I just had to try to see if it was possible.  It isn't. Twinbrook buildings, no problem, but not BB.

I'm working on it but not sure how you'd put up the entire SV.  I'll have some lots and buildings up soon.  Just keep checking the Building and Remodeling section and probably will post in the showboat thread if I don't start a new one.

I started a new SV game and changed the vacant lots to community.  I made one of each of the nine new bar/club types, except the vampire lounge.  Alas, I still have vampires.  Gah!  I'm trying to get my Sim up in mixology now to see if he can learn all the drinks to complete that one challenge where they have to learn 42 drinks.  IF I'm successful, I'll go back and make the lots something better than rectangular boring buildings with a bar, a bathroom, and in some cases a dance floor.

Has anyone else tried this?  Have you had any success?

Yes I renovated the Red Rendevous to turn it into a bar/dance club and it worked great. All the features of Bridgeport show up : celebrities vampires, mixologists. It has become a very popular hang out. it's the easiet way to have a club and have it the way you like.
