Oh, glad that's the real J and not zombie J.

Oh, glad that's the real J and not zombie J.

Huh? A zombie J?
I second Playalot's thought. J makes attractive kids.

Wow, Armando is seriously aging poorly!  I laughed that Elaine chose a "beau" with commitment issues (J) then chose another man with the same trait trait (Hank) for her mother.

Thanks, Nettlejuice. Although now they have hospitals (and a kindly Watcher has removed those disturbing replicas of Bill Pancakes' parents), strangers are less of a concern than they used to be. They can socialize with anyone they want to, now. I'd class J and the other roomies as refugees from the plague, since their home was destroyed.

Chapter 42 – A Week with the A.Goths, Pt. 1

"Why the tears, Cornelia?" Isobel asked. "Did Justin Bieber announce that he's getting married?"

"That's not the reason," Cornelia fumed. "And before you ask, I don't want to talk about it."

Some teens have a bouncy, happy adolescence, but Cornelia is not one of them. Maybe it's because she has to go to work at 5 am every morning except weekends.

"I hate coffee," she says, but no one pays any attention.

Isobel had been depressed ever since she lost her job.

"The patients love you, and your test scores were great," the administrator had told her, "but you just didn't have the experience to cut it here at the Mustard Clinic."

She'd found another job, though, at the Cut 'n' Gut HMO. After her first day, Dr. Peter Lee personally gave her her review.

"Your approach to giving shots is great," he said. "No hesitation, no fear that you might be causing any pain.

"But when it comes to taking temperatures – you might want to develop a little finesse. Recoiling in horror is something most patients find disturbing.

"On the whole, though, we think you're doing great. I expect you'll be doing surgery in no time at all."

Isobel had celebrated by getting together with Geoffrey Lewis. After being told to get a room by Katrina Caliente during their first kiss,

...they decided to go on a date at the museum. "So, do you want to be my boyfriend?" Isobel asked.
"Yes!" said Geoffrey enthusiastically.

They went up to the third floor to make out, but started tickling each other instead.

When she got home, Isobel put the rose that Geoffrey had given her in a vase. She wondered if there would be any reaction.

A day went by without Isobel hearing anything. Finally, when helping her mother to put out the fire that her dad had set with his chemistry set, she judged it was time to bring up the subject.

"I had a date with Geoffrey Lewis the other day," she said.

"I already know all about," Janessa answered. "Your Aunt Cassandra told me everything."

"She's so nosy," Isobel complained.

"She's just concerned about your welfare," said Janessa. "She doesn't approve of Geoffrey. She thinks he's just interested in you because you're a Goth. Plus, he's insane."

"Well, that's her opinion," said Isobel, as she doused the last flame. "Whoops, time for work. Gotta go."

One night, Alexander noticed a strange light outside. He looked up and saw that his dream was about to come true. He was going to meet aliens face to face at last.

It was what every Ufologist wanted – to be taken to the planet Sixam. Alexander couldn't imagine what the experience would be like.

After returning to his home, Alexander felt a bit dizzy.

He also felt itchy, and had the strange delusion that he was carrying a baby.

Realizing that the aliens might have given him a strange illness, Alexander took some medicine. His symptoms cleared up immediately, which was a relief.

The next morning, he did some sit-ups to get rid of the lingering queasiness in his stomach.

At work the next day, he discovered that the lab was having its monthly open house. Either that, or the lab technicians really were getting younger.

Feeling oddly belligerent, Alexander took his ray gun and went out to the picnic area. When he spotted Armando Boyle, he couldn't restrain himself. This was the lout who had made his dear friend Shayna so unhappy. "Freeze!" he shouted.

And Armando froze. Alexander left him there and walked back to the lab, munching contentedly on strawberries.

That evening Isobel invited Geoffrey over. "I told you to break up with him!" Janessa hissed behind her.

"No, Mom, you told me Aunt Cassandra's opinion," said Isobel. "But I don't care how crazy he is. I love him, and I intend to marry him."

Chapter 43 – A Week with the A. Goths, Pt. 2

"We need a bigger house anyway," said Alexander. "We might as well build a bridal suite for Isobel and Geoffrey, too."

"But --" Janessa began to protest.

"She was going to get married sooner or later," said Alexander. "She or Cornelia."

"But she's just a baby," said Janessa.

"We'll put our little alien in with her," said Alexander. "That way, he won't keep us awake."

"It's your little alien, not mine," Janessa muttered, but she gave the okay to the construction workers.

"Wow," said Geoffrey when he came over. "Your house grew."

"It's because you're marrying Isobel and moving in," said Cornelia.

"Corny!" said Isobel. "Do you mind? Can you give us some privacy?"

"Yeah," said Geoffrey. "Beat it, kid."

Cornelia rolled her eyes, but she went up the stairs.

"Well, now that Cornelia's let the cat out of the bag, Geoffrey, will you marry me?"

"Yeah, sure," said Geoffrey, "but where did the cat go?"

"That doesn't matter," said Isobel. "I, Isobel, promise to love you --"

"There's something you should know," said Geoffrey. "I'm insane."

"I know," Isobel said fondly. "And my dad's pregnant, so you should fit right in."

Early the next morning...

Looks like someone was happy with her pregnancy test.

"You're going to be a grandmother, Mom. Isn't that great!"

The next evening...

"Cut 'n' Gut has had to take some austerity measures," the receptionist told Alexander. "Anyone who really wants to receive medical care has to help out with some of the chores. The trash barrel is out front."

"And there's a floor that needs mopping," said the nurse, when he was finished with the trash.

"This baby is coming out now," said Alexander.

"Now there's nothing to worry about," said Dr. Lee. "I've had an alien baby myself, so I know what you're going through. In fact, once you've given birth you might want to join my support group.

"Let's see, which button do I press?" he continued. "Oops, that's the heart surgery one. My bad.

"And there you go – a lovely little girl. Looks like she might have the same mother mine did – Pollinator # 3, if I'm not mistaken."

Alexander wasn't paying much attention. He loved each of his daughters dearly, but this one was special. Janessa was right – it was different when you carried them yourself. He decided to name her Qagnes, after his great-aunt.

At home, everyone was in love with the little eggplant. Janessa couldn't get enough of her.

And Isobel said she needed to practice feeding for when she had her own.

Meanwhile, Cornelia had a birthday. She became a genius and decided to go into the Tech Guru career.

She promptly fell sick. "I think it was the strawberry cake," she said. "I notice you didn't eat any, Isobel."

"That's just because I'm hoping for a boy," said her sister. "I'm sure the cake was fine."

"Don't worry," said Alexander. "I think I've replicated the formula of the medicine I took when I got sick." He handed her a beaker of snake oil serum.

Cornelia drank it and promptly slumped to the ground.

"Oh dear," said Alexander. "That's what happened at the lab, too."

"I don't feel well, either," said Isobel. "I'm breaking out in a rash and..."

"Do you want to go to the hospital?" asked Janessa.

"There's no way that claw thing is getting close to me or my baby," said Isobel. "Owwww!"

And just like that, she gave birth to a little boy. She decided to name him Mort.

Later, Cassandra came over to congratulate everyone. "I know you think I'm nosy," she told Isobel. "But really, I'm just concerned about our little community. I'm counting on you to take over once I'm gone."

Isobel didn't know what to say.

"It can be fun," said Cassandra. "Finding out who's romancing whom. Annoying the younger generation. It's a Crumplebottom tradition."

"What can I say?" said Isobel. "I'll give it the old college try."

Chapter 44 – A Few Days with the Pancakes

"You need to get a satellite dish," Cassandra told Bill when she saw him at the bookstore.

"Why?" he asked. "I don't even have a TV."

"I can't explain here," said Cassandra. "But ask Alexander."

"Yeah, you need a satellite dish," said Alexander. "But even though I'm deliriously happy, I don't want to talk about it."

"Okay, I'll get a satellite dish," Bill told Cassandra.

"Good," she said, "because we don't want our guests getting abducted during the wedding."

"Um, wedding?" said Bill.

"I was thinking after I get home from work the day after tomorrow," said Cassandra. "That will give you some time to prepare."

"Day after tomorrow," repeated Bill. "Prepare. Sure."

That evening Bill set up his new satellite dish.

As soon as it was up, he called Cassandra and invited her over.

"Although we've talked about getting married, we've never made it official," he said. "So, Miss Cassandra Goth, will you do the honor of becoming my bride?"

"So are you two finally making it legal?" asked Robert. "Cool."

The next day, Bill went over to Dahl's to pick up a wedding arch. There was rather an excess of pink flowers, but he thought Cassandra would be pleased. He bought a banquet table, too.

He went to work, then, but cooked a white cake when he got home. "Looks kind of bland," Robert commented. "You should have picked up one from Bagley's."

"I called," said Bill, "but she didn't have a two-tiered cake available. She gave me the recipe for this one, though – said it was really good."

The next morning, Bill gave Robert a Moodlet Manager. "You've been grumpy and exhausted ever since you started your job," he said. "I don't want you showing up at the wedding in a bad mood."

That afternoon Bill set up the arch and the chairs for the guests.

At 5 p.m. exactly, which was when Cassandra finished work, he called the wedding registry, and soon people started arriving. Alexander was the first to show up.

"It's a little noisy at home," he explained, "Mort wakes Qagnes up with his crying, and then she wakes him up. We left Isobel and Geoffrey to deal with them. Nice-looking spread," he added.

At sunset, Cassandra met Bill under the arch. "For better or worse," she said.

"For richer or poorer," said Bill.

"In sickness and in health," said Cassandra.

"As long as we both shall live," they said together, and everyone stood up.

Bill cut the cake next, and everyone cheered. A couple of people even sang to them.

Everyone sat around eating until it was time to go home.

Both Cassandra and Bill were still wide awake. "I'm going to do something about that grill," said Cassandra. "See if I can turn it into something more useful – or at least worth more money."

She managed to turn it into a desk chair, just like the one Bill already had. "Let's see if I can get something else," she said. To her horror, the desk chair burst into flames.

Luckily Bill charged in with a fire extinguisher, and Robert came running, too.

Bill was up early the next morning to clean the toilet. For once, it was a labor of love rather than an annoying chore.

And Cassandra decided to give the two of them a more comfortable bed. While she didn't set anything on fire this time, the result wasn't quite what she wanted. She hurried over to Dahl's to get a new bed before Bill came home from work.

That afternoon, Robert met Alicia in the park. "Giving the lovebirds some space," he told Alicia. "It was a nice wedding, though."

"Yeah," said Alicia, "but I don't understand why she wore black."

"Well, it's her favorite color," said Robert, "and she does look good in it. Now you should wear white when we – I mean you – get married."

Daringly, he stretched and put his arm around Alicia. "Dad kept the arch for when we – I mean I – get married. You know I'm domestic? So I'll want lots of kids."

"We'll discuss that later," said Alicia.

Hilarious! I love all of it - especially Robert who thinks 'we' but tries to say 'I'.
There is such a wonderful ambiance around your Sims.
Mm... I've had a satellite dish but it doesn't look upright and active like Alexander's. I wish it did.
