Bill's cup is half full rather than half empty. It may not be what he envisaged as a teen, but at least Cassandra loves him too and they have a gorgeous son together. I think it's nice that Robert lives with his dad now.

Round Five

Chapter 25 – Benson Dahl

It was late in the day when Benson finished collecting the crystals and metals that the laboratory needed.

He hurried to upgrade his Dahlray. He couldn't wait to try it out, but when he tested it on a chair, he set the chair on fire. Luckily his friendly co-worker, Bristol Muniz was nearby. Benson breathed a sigh of relief when she put it out for him.

That evening he used the transforming ability on his bed.

It became smaller, but definitely more comfortable.

He had less success with the shower. He almost burned the house down until he had the idea to extinguish the fire by freezing it.

The next day at work, Benson made a new serum, rose perfume. When he drank it, he began to have unusual yearnings. He looked around for Bristol, but she hadn't come in that day. He gave a rose to another lab technician, Maddison Mayberry. That relieved the odd feeling somewhat, and taking a cold shower definitely helped.

When he got home from work, he noticed how beautiful the sunset in back of his house was. It would be nice to have someone to share the sunset with, he thought.

Benson called Bristol and asked if she'd like to come over. She said yes.

Of course, the sunset was finished by the time she arrived, but he found that talking with her put him in the same mood he'd experienced earlier that day.

Benson didn't have a double bed any more, but he did have a tent. Quickly he set that up and suggested that they go inside. Bristol agreed immediately.

Bristol made him feel so wonderful that he didn't want her to leave. And besides, she was handy with a fire extinguisher – always a useful quality. He asked her to move in with him, and when she said yes, he surprised her with a passionate kiss.

Bristol was surprised again when she discovered she was pregnant. As an outgoing goofball and serial romantic, she didn't feel like she was ready to settle down.

Over the weekend, Benson worked tirelessly on his idea for a new serum. Bristol quit her job and went shopping, getting a new outfit for herself, along with a bassinet for the baby, a bookcase, and an armchair.

Sunday afternoon, he looked up from his chemistry lab and told Bristol that he'd had a breakthrough. “Let's celebrate by going out on a date,” he suggested.

“Cool,” Bristol agreed.

When they got to the park, they cuddled and talked on the bench for a while. Then Benson got down on his knees. He wasn't sure what Bristol's reaction would be, but he knew that he had to ask.

She said yes.

And Benson then expressed his joy.

They exchanged their wedding vows quickly while waiting to get into the ladies' room, Bristol having an urgent need.

The next day at work, Benson mixed his first batch of Dahl's Cure-All, the serum that would put an end to the plague.

That night Bristol went into labor.

She named her little girl Lucienne. Benson slept happy that night, knowing that he would never have to worry about his daughter getting sick.

I do love the happier parts of the story. What a cute couple and great progress on Benson's career.

Chapter 26 – The Lewises

One thing Olivia enjoyed was getting clothes for her three daughters. They looked adorable in everything.

But she wished that they would act adorable too. Erica teased Nancy.

Then Nancy took it out on Alicia.

And Alicia picked a fight with Jack.

Geoffrey, of course, argued with himself on a regular basis.

Olivia was also tired of the plumbing breaking down. She didn't know what the kids were flushing down the toilet – their Easter eggs, maybe, -- but it seemed to overflow almost every day.

And the bathroom sink broke pretty regularly, too.

At the end of Friday, Olivia was so tired she didn't know if she could make it through the weekend.

“I just don't know what I'm going to do,” she told Johnny. “I swear the toilet knows when you're at work, so that I'm the one that has to fix it. Geoffrey's birthday is tomorrow, and I haven't baked a cake for him yet. And I'm not making any progress on my aspiration.”

“I've got two suggestions,” said Johnny. “The first is that we install a second bathroom on the roof with the tent. That should relieve some of the stress on the plumbing.”

“Second, if you'll take the kids to the park tomorrow morning so I can work on my routine, I'll get my buddy Don Lothario to come and help with Geoffrey's birthday while you head off to Granite Falls for the rest of the weekend.”

Knowing that she had a respite coming up, Olivia found that she actually enjoyed playing space monster.

That evening Geoffrey blew out the candles on his chocolate cake.

He became a snob as well as insane and decided that he wanted to be Fabulously Wealthy.

Olivia took a deep breath when she reached Granite Falls.

She was renting a house rather than camping, as Geoffrey and Jack were sharing the tent at home. Eating breakfast the next morning, she was amazed at how quiet and peaceful it was – maybe a little too quiet, lonely even.

She went for a long hike and picked up all the plants that she would need to identify for her herbalism requirement. She also spotted a goldfinch sitting on a bush.

She didn't reach the deep woods until night time. The moon and the stars overhead were absolutely sublime.

Fishing next to a giant waterfall, she felt small and humble, but in a good way. It was so easy to think that she carried the weight of the world on her shoulders, but really, there were powers in the universe much stronger than she, and Olivia could draw strength from them.

She returned home refreshed and energized. At breakfast the next day, Geoffrey began attacking the evil spirits that lived under his arm, and Jack and Alicia weren't ready for school, while Erica was tricking Nancy into doing the dishes, but Olivia just chuckled. She much preferred the lively chaos of her family to a lonely peace and quiet.

The kids are wonderful and Geoff is a handsome fella. I love that Olivia still missed her family despite getting time to herself  :)

Thanks for reading! I don't know whether Olivia needed a break, but her watcher certainly did. Trying to get 5 children to complete their aspirations can be tiring.

I have to say that I love rotational play. Part of it is that focusing on building one sim's skills, job performance, etc., can get boring, but also it's fun seeing them interact with each other on their own.

Chapter 27 – The Bagleys and the A. Goths

One day is much like another at the Bagley household. At 5 a.m., Elaine goes off to her job as a barista at the hospital coffee shop. She's a Bean Blender and needs one more promotion to meet her job requirement.

Shayna goes for an early morning run.

Then she goes over to her shop. She takes care of any restocking that has to be done.

After that, she bakes a batch of cupcakes or muffins. Sometimes, she is able to decorate what she baked.

When Shayna opens the shop, people come pouring in. She has a freezer now that they can serve themselves from. Also, she took out a TV ad campaign, saying that Bagley's Bagels are the best in town. In fact, she makes the only bagels in town and can offer plain, blueberry, and onion now. She has also started stocking the freezer with cake for those who don't want to make their own for birthdays.

After school, Elaine gets help with her homework from Armando, if he happens to come over.

Once her homework has been done, she can go work out at the gym.

Or she can dive into the pool.

At the end of the day, mother and daughter have a cup of coffee together.

Alexander Goth was feeling frustrated and depressed. He had wanted so much to discover the serum that would cure the plague, but Benson Dahl had beaten him to it. He tested his idea on his chemistry lab, sure that he'd been close to a breakthrough.

Unfortunately, his lab broke down instead. By the time he finished repairing it, he was in a grumpy frame of mind.

It didn't help that Cassandra decided to lecture him on appropriate behavior for a Goth.

“You have got to go congratulate Benson,” she said earnestly. “It's what Dad would have done. And it really is a marvelous thing he's accomplished. We'll be able to have doctors now and we won't have to worry whether the children will survive all the new diseases that have cropped up.”

“I know, I know,” said Alexander. “I just wish it could have been named Goth Cure-All instead.”

“You'll make other discoveries,” Cassandra said consolingly. Janessa agreed.

“Great work!” Alexander congratulated Benson heartily. “I think I speak for everyone at FutureSim when I say that.”

“I had a pretty powerful incentive,” Benson said. “Come on in and meet her.”

Alexander thought he was referring to his wife, but instead Benson introduced him to his daughter, Lucienne. She was a cheerful little girl, with her father's eyes.

As he left Benson's, Alexander reflected that he had some pretty powerful incentives himself. There was Isobel, who was growing up much too fast.

She'd been nicknamed Vissy at her high school.

“Vissy?” he'd inquired.

Isobel rolled her eyes. “As in Visigoth, Dad. Honestly, don't you remember anything from history?”

Isobel was cheerful, self-assured, and mentally gifted. She wanted to become a Friend of the World. Currently, she was working at a retail store. Alexander had suggested that if she wanted to work in retail, there were plenty of opportunities at his store. “But that's not the same!” Isobel had protested.

Actually he was quite proud of her, Alexander reflected, as he restocked his bassinet. She'd been praised to her manager by a happy customer. It hadn't resulted in a raise, but it did move her closer to a promotion.

And then there was little Corny, who was still young enough to listen to The Pizzi-cat-i Polka.

She loved playing on the monkey bars.

And she preferred the pirate ship to the spaceship because it was next to the water and she could pretend she was on a real ship whereas the spaceship was surrounded by grass instead of stars.

Alexander thought about switching over to the medical career but decided to stay on as a scientist. If nothing else, the Mortray was worth it. He'd made Janessa happy twice in one day, first by putting out the fire she'd set when trying to cook on the grill...

...and second, by transforming their bed into something much more comfortable.

He suddenly remembered that now that the hospital – with its pharmacy -- was in operation, he and Janessa could woo-hoo without worrying about whether they could make room in the house for another child. Yeah, even if it was named Dahl's Cure-All, it was a really great discovery.

The Bagleys seem to give off a peaceful vibe, I really like that, but as a Watcher you will probably disagree  :D

Poor Alex, I sometimes have a strong dislike for Cassie when she always has something to criticise about her brother  :o

Actually, I like playing the Bagleys, but it is hard to come up with a storyline when it's time to write about them.

Cassandra and Alexander have a high relationship, but whenever they're talking to each other, it does look like they're arguing about something. I'm an older sister myself, so criticism is what I think of.

Chapter 28 – The Pancakes, S. Lees, Peter Lee, and the C. Goths

The first thing Bill did with Robert was to take him over to Child's Play to pick out a couple of toys. While they were there, Cassandra showed up. “Mom!” Robert greeted her enthusiastically.

Robert went from the toy store to the little park nearby to play on the spaceship. He spun the wheel with authority and decided that he was going to pilot a rocket ship someday.

Meanwhile, Bill and Cassandra were talking. “You know, you're welcome to come over any time,” Bill told her. “Robert would like that and so would I. And Gunther can come to.”

Cassandra showed up the next evening, to give Robert a cuddle before going to bed.

Meanwhile, Gunther wanted advice about which part-time job he should get. “I should probably leave manual labor for someone who wants to go into gardening, and I can't see myself doing baby-sitting...”

Bill recommended becoming a fry cook. “You learn cooking, which is always a useful skill, and you meet lots of people.” Gunther said he'd look into it.

The next day Bill started his job at the hospital. He was sorry to see that a couple of Olivia's children were there.

He brought one of them – Nancy – lunch and tried to put a smile on her face.

That evening Cassandra and Gunther came over again, along with Robert's new friend Arnold Medeiros. Robert and Arnold took a picture together before Robert settled down to doing his homework.

Gunther kept giving Robert wrong answers while Bill was trying to help him. Finally Gunther relented and told Robert that he should listen to his dad.

“It's great having the two of you here in the evening,” said Bill. “Getting married would be nice, but I know you're not keen on the idea...”

“I don't know,” said Cassandra. “Ask me again after Gunther graduates from high school.”

“I will,” said Bill. “But in the meantime, we're yibsims, right?”

“Right,” said Cassandra.

Stacy and Waldemar had to figure out how to schedule their jobs now that Stacy had joined the medical profession. Luckily, they didn't both work the same days. Waldemar was able to go to work and upgrade his Simray – although he had to repair the invention constructor first.

But once he took care of that, he was able to do something about the inedible eggs he'd been picking up in the lab's garden.

Stacy started her job the next morning. So far it wasn't very interesting – she talked to her co-workers, greeted patients, mopped up puddles, and made beds. Still, it meant she was finding her way around the hospital, which seemed huge. In the middle of the day, she took a break to get a snack. She liked the fountain outside the cafeteria.

At home that evening, Qimi got Waldemar to play another game of chess with her before settling down to do her homework.

And that night, Qatzi had fun working on the second of her five drawings. As a loner, her favorite time was when everyone else had gone to bed and she could have the house to herself.

Peter Lee was the third person to sign on as a doctor. Initially, he was not at all enthusiastic about it. He'd just discovered a new type of workout equipment.

He'd bought one for the store, which took almost all of his money, and he was hoping to recoup his investment.

But his sister reminded him that they all needed to pitch in and help with the plague victims, and added that there would be financial compensation for their efforts. Peter had to admit that his business could use a cash infusion.

Working at the hospital wasn't as bad as he'd expected. He did get some exercise from walking all over the building and also from mopping.

To his surprise, the medical reports he had to study were actually pretty interesting – especially the ones dealing with bones and muscles.

And he got a chance to chat with one of his customers, his bro friend Bria.

At the end of the day, one of the nurses told him he was the best of their new employees and suggested that he try taking someone's temperature. Peter felt pretty pleased with himself (and he couldn't wait to tell Stacy that he'd been called “the best”).

Gunther did go ahead and get a job as a fry cook, just as Bill had suggested. He wasn't having much fun yet, though. His life seemed to be all school, work, and homework.

Cassandra reminded him that at least he wasn't sick. She'd seen Stacy's little girl Qimi at the hospital on the day she'd worked there.

The poor kid had seemed really scared when she took her temperature, but Cassandra had calmed her down. The one thing Cassandra didn't like about her job was her uniform. Rather than normal scrubs, the Mustard Clinic wanted their personnel to dress in street clothes, to make their patients feel more at home. Cassandra didn't think ripped jeans and hats from the local burger joint looked at all professional.

Still, she could let all that go when she started playing the violin. It added a little class to her gallery, and the tips helped, too.

I'm hoping the doctor career gets better as you move up. At the moment, I'm just glad that they can manage to find 3 new patients to introduce themselves to, considering that they've met so many people already as store owners.

Do you find that there are less NPC people in town?
