Spoiled Brats and Babysitter Issues
« on: October 31, 2010, 07:54:15 PM »
I have a Celebrity Sim whose husband is a Businessman. They just had a daughter named Tenly whom I've just become to realize is a pain. I began to notice that this child was a bit different than the countless other babies that have been born since I've been playing The Sims3,  when she required too much attention. I found myself having the parents rotate quite frequently to tend to her needs. I would say they would have to tend to her repeatedly every 3 hours because she was always hungry and lonely and it would take several actions to make her social moodlet rise. I figured it was no big deal. The problems really started when she became a toddler . I sent the father to go potty train her 4 times. She flat out refuses and she's throwing a tantrum. I have never had this happen before. I don't know for sure if this is just a Late Night attribute but she wont allow herself to be potty trained and her social moodlet is still hard to rise!

Also, I noticed the babysitter doesn't want to have anything to do with her. He only tends to her unless he absolutely has to and that's when he knows the parents are about to come home. He would let her moodlets go to red. There were two times when he left before feeding her. He saw the parents come in and just left. I fired him. These behaviors have also never taken place before. Strange.

What are your toddler's traits?

I am inclined to think that this is a glitch. My baby, who was a loner, was just as bad in terms of the social need. There was nothing that could be done to keep her satisfied, and she was constantly lonely. As a loner, this shouldn't be as much of a problem at all.

She's friendly and a genius which makes it confusing as to why the butler and the babysitter does not want to be bothered . Her parents were partying one night and the babysitter and butler refused to go help the baby, he only changed her diaper when I sent the father home because she was on red for far too long. That is when I fired the babysitter.

I've noticed that it takes much more social interaction to get the social bar maxed out.  I don't know if it's deliberate on the part of EA or if it's a bug, but it's definitely there.  I haven't tried potty training yet, but I'll check that right away and see what my toddlers do.

Edit:  Potty training was fine.  I have triplets and none of them gave me any trouble at all.  Candy, what was the mood of your toddler when you had the kicking and screaming.  I've had that in the past and it was when the toddler was tired, but when her needs were all green, she did ok.

I've also just noticed that a Virtuoso now gains xylophone skill twice as fast.  Scratch that.  The toddlers are ghosts and vampires, so that's probably why they are learning it so fast.

Potty training was fine for me too, but hunger and social needs are really hard to keep up with, especially with multiples.

I noticed the thing with the toddler potty training too, but my toddler had a bad moodlet which knocked the mood down. When that was gone, there was no issues, so I think its sort of like RL, when the toddler is upset they don't want to let go of Mommy.

No, I think it's for real. My regular kids learned fast on the xylephone, without virtuoso.

She was all green on all the other moodlets when I tried. After the fourth attempt, I put her down and let her pee on herself and exited the game.  I'm going to go back and try again... I will also check to see if a new babysitter will help out more.

Are you in an apartment? It could be the kid can't get ANYWHERE. I've had yowling toddlers fuss when they couldn't go somewhere as their path was blocked by an invisible wall or something else. That's annoying, but it's sort of their footstomp action. :(

No very spacious house with 4 floors. The mother just had another baby so I will see what happens. I couldn't bring myself to play for long today. I'm kind of frustrated with all the issues since the new expansion. One thing is for sure, this couple won't be having anymore children

She is potty training now but the new babysitter doesn't want to be bothered. The babysitter takes care of the brother but ignores Tenly. Forget about the butler. I will say that having two children at once is not like it used to be. It definitely is harder to please the children now. All the babysitter does is hold Braniff all day
