Emma grew up to be a child.

"Emma, one hour and then it's supper time!" I said on my way to take a shower.

"Yes mama."

"OW!"

"You okay?" Shayne asked.

"Yeah, got a little burn." I said.

I beat the chicken with my spatula.

"Callie! That is not how you do it!"

"It won't heat properly! This stupid stove goes out all the time!" I said.

"Here, let me do it." He said.

"What kind of wife can't cook a simple chicken?!" I snapped and thew the spatula down.

"A beautiful and sleep deprived one."

I sighed and walked out of the kitchen and made sure Emma was getting washed up.

"You are pretty fast, are you sure you are full?" I asked.

"Yes mama." She smiled.

"Okay."

"You start school tomorrow, are you excited?" Shayne asked.

"Yeah, I'm scared though." She said.

"Don't be! I'm sure you will make a lot of new friends and you will do awesome at school!" He told her.

"Daddy?"

"Yes baby?"

"Will you help me if I need it? And mama too?"

"We couldn't think of anything else we would want to do baby." He smiled.

We finished eating as a family, and in order to do that we had to use Emma's bed in the corner and the couch. We needed a new house, a bigger house.

The next morning I said a tear filled goodbye to Emma as she ran to the bus.

"She'll be home in a few hours." Shayne said hugging me.

"I miss her." I said.

It didn't take long for Shayne to get my mind off of things. It was our first time alone alone since we had Emma.

Emma came home all excited and firing off information about her day at school.

"Then this kid puked at lunch!"

"That sounds gross!"

"It totally was! He had green beans and you could see them mom!" She said.

"Can we practice reading mama?"

"Sure! Grab your book!"

Around bed time each night I took Emma into our room and we read from the same book.

"What's this word?"

"Sound it out." I told her.

"Hos-pi-tal. Hospital?"

"Amazing!"

And an added bonus: Callie taking a picture of her food! Haha

Let me know what you think! =]

Emma's a cutie.  :)  And I love watching Foodies eat, they seem to spend more time photographing their food than actually eating it!

Thanks for all the replies! And thank you for over 300 views! You guys are awesome! Anyway, on with the story!

"Close your eyes."

"They are closed." I said.

Shayne had a blind fold on me and was leading me somewhere.

"Are we there yet?"

"No."

We finally stopped and he turned me around.

"Okay."

He counted to three and removed my blind fold, I slowly opened my eyes and gasped covering my mouth.

"Shut up!"

"Is this ours?!" I gasped.

He smiled.

"How are we going to pay for this?!"

"One day at a time."

"Oh my god."

"Do you like it?"

"I-I love it!" I said.

Tears filled my eyes as I looked at our house.

"Why are you crying?"

"It's so beautiful! You did this all for us?"

"All for our family."

Emma was enjoying school still, and she was a B student!

And, Shayne got a promotion at work! He was working on his second case, and this one was all on his own!

"I got to do mug shots today!" He said.

"I bet that was fun."

"Most of the people don't give me hassle about it but there have been a few that I've had to fight with."

"I hate searching people, it makes me uncomfortable."

"I'm sure they don't enjoy it either."

Emma loves her new room and wasn't a bit scared about sleeping down the hall from us.

"I love my room! I just wish we didn't forget to pack my unicorn." She said.

"I'm sorry honey, I really am. Listen, the second mommy and daddy can afford it we will get you another unicorn." I told her.

"Okay." She moped.

"How about you go wash up for dinner, it'll be ready soon."

She walked into the bathroom.

The next day I came home from work (I was becoming a writer) with a nasty rash that itched like crazy.

"Stop itching." Shayne said.

"I can't!"

"Here, come lay down." He said.

I sighed and laid down on the couch. He walked over and grabbed a tube of something.

"I got this from the hospital, it's suppose to help with itching." He said.

He squirted some on his hands and lifted my shirt up a little bit, he started to rub it on my stomach.

"I still have faint stretch marks." I sighed.

"They are beautiful."

"You have to say that." I giggled.

"Doesn't mean it's a lie."

I rolled my eyes.

Have you ever been abducted by aliens?

I don't recommend it, although I don't remember much of it. Just a bunch of poking and prodding, and it was not an enjoyable process.

I barged into the house and needed something to relieve the anger I felt from being abducted. I wasn't the best painter since I had no skill from it at all.

It better not happen again.

I had no clue what was going on with Callie at first, she just ran out of the house and was gone! Strange experience, I wish they would have said what exactly happened up there! Anyway, hope you guys enjoyed this update!

"Emma, are you finished with your homework?"

"Yeah!"

"Will you take out the trash please?"

"Yes mama."

I heard Shayne walk through the front door.

"I'm home!"

"In the kitchen."

He walked into the kitchen and gave me a kiss on the cheek.

"Dinner smells wonderful." He said.

"Thank you."

He looked at me.

"Everything okay?" He asked.

"Yeah." I said shrugging.

"Honey?"

I bit my lip but stopped chopping up lettuce.

"I think I may be pregnant." I whispered.

He looked at me for a moment.

"And that's a bad thing?" Hinting at the fact that I as on the verge of tears.

"We agreed after Emma was born, that she was going to be the only child because of the craziness of our jobs and the store."

"Life has other plans then, but this doesn't have to be a bad thing." He said.

"I know."

So after dinner there I sat on the bathroom floor with Shayne next to me staring at a white stick as we waited for an answer.

"It would be neat to have a boy." Shayne said.

I smiled.

"It would, a boy and a girl. Then we could really stop." I said.

"Shayne Jr."

I laughed.

"What?"

"Sorry, but we aren't naming our son Shayne Jr.!"

"Fine, but I'll resent you for the rest of my life."

I smacked him playfully, "Shut up."

He smiled.

"I want it." He said out of no where.

I knew what he meant and I smiled.

"Me too." I whispered.

The timer went off just then and we took a deep breath and looked at the test.

Negative.

I blinked a few times.

"Well, that answers the question."

"Yeah." I said.

He looked at me and smiled.

"Guess I won't have to resent you."

I smiled a little bit.

"We should go check on Emma." I said.

"Bed time in a few minutes sweetie."

"Okay mama."

I smiled and stood in the door frame and watched her read for a few minutes.

The next day I had to crack down on writing books for my daily job I needed to complete. Emma decided that she was going to join me and work on her drawing skills.

"I'm off to work." Shayne said.

"Have a good day!"

"My girls are beautiful." He said.

"Thank you daddy." Emma said.

"Yeah, thank you daddy." I giggled.

"MAMA!"

I dropped the glass in my hand and it shattered to the ground. I ran outside and gasped when I saw that the grill was engulfed in flames.

"Emma! Get back!" I screamed.

She ran over to me.

"Shayne!"

"I'm right here." He said rushing out with the extinguisher.

I held Emma who was crying while Shayne put out the flames. He rushed over to us and hugged us both to him.

"We're safe." He said, more to Emma then to me.

The insurance covered some of the payment, but it took a chunk from us to replace it. I didn't want to replace it, we hardly used it, but Shayne wanted to keep it in case we had a cook out. I didn't foresee that happening, the only friends we had were co-workers and we weren't really close to them.

It was hard to believe that in a few days Shayne and I would be adults, and Emma was getting close to being a teenager.

Sorry I haven't posted in a while! I got my first tattoo so I've been busy taking care of that, and then work has been crazy. It's not much of an update, but wanted to get something out!

There's still hope... maybe. =P And I got a key with a ribbon floating around it, and some Paramore lyrics to their song Last Hope. I got it for my dad who passed away in 2006, the ribbon also has his birthday and death date on it.

Shayne's POV

"Excuse me, sir?"

"Yeah?"

"Have you seen this girl?"

I showed him a picture of the suspect I was searching for.

"Yeah, I think she went that way."

I thanked him and went on the search until I finally found who I was looking for. I cuffed her and brought her back to the station where I started the interrogation.

"You're telling me that you didn't do it?"

"Are you deaf?!" She snapped.

"No, but I seem to have a lot of proof here that leads to someone matching your hair, what you wear, how old you are, shall I go on?"

"Do whatever you want man, I don't care."

"You don't care?"

"No, it's not like you have enough evidence to arrest me."

"I don't, shall we look then?"

"Sure."

"This, is a picture of some of the damage done. Here is a witness statement claiming they saw you leave the scene."

"Here is another witness claiming that they saw what you did and what you used to do it in."

"Still want to claim that you didn't do anything?"

"Man I don't have to talk to you."

"That's fine, because we are done talking. You are under arrest for robbing the house on Sunset Dr."

Callie's POV

"Stupid sink!"

I cursed as I twisted and turned the wrench trying to get the leaking to stop.

Shayne came home a few hours later, and he was promoted to Senior Detective!

"Daddy!"

"Hi pumpkin!"

"Can you help me daddy?"

"Always."

"Dinner is ready in ten!" I called to them.

"We should be done by then."

They walked into the kitchen and washed up and grabbed a plate.

"These are yummy fish tacos mommy!"

"Thank you baby."

"What are you doing?" I asked Shayne.

He got out a few things from the fridge and placed them on the counter and then got a bowl and a spoon.

"I am making you a birthday cake."

"Ah, so you do remember." I smiled.

"Of course I remember, happy birthday." He said leaning over and giving me a kiss.

"Mmm, thank you." I smiled.

I was now an adult!

After me we celebrated Emma's birthday and then Shayne's birthday.

"My baby is all grown up!" I said hugging Emma.

"I'll always be your baby mama."

My face scrunched.

"Mama?"

"I- I don't feel so well!" I gasped.

I dodged to the nearest bathroom and fell in front of the toilet before I threw up everything I ate that day.

What was wrong with me?

Birthdays and promotions!

What do you guys think? AND thank you thank you thank you for over 400 views!!! ;D

I sat on the couch and gave Shayne a kiss on the cheek.

"Hello dear." He said.

"Hello."

He looked at me and smiled, and I swore my heart melted.

"So."

"So?" He questioned.

"I may have something to tell you."

"Yeah?"

"So, remember a few weeks ago when I had that pregnancy scare?"

He looked at me for a few minutes before answering.

"Yeah, wh-why are you asking?"

"Were you serious about- about wanting another one?" I asked.

"Well- yeah I mean if it happened."

"So you wouldn't be upset or angry if I were to say, you know, get pregnant?"

"No, Callie I think my heart is going to beat out of my chest. What are you trying to say?"

"I had another scare this morning, but it's not a scare."

"You aren't pregnant?"

I looked at him with a small smile.

"You are?!"

I nodded and laughed.

"Oh my god!"

"This is amazing!" He said.

"So you're happy?" I asked.

"I am so happy!"

I smiled, "Me too."

"I'm home!"

Emma walked into the living room and sat down.

"Perfect timing sweetie." I said.

"Yeah? What's going on?" She asked.

"Your father and I, we have something to tell you." I said.

I wasn't going to lie, I was super nervous to tell her. She had been the center of our attention her whole life and now we were adding another baby to the mix.

"Mom? What is it?" She asked after I spaced for a few minutes.

"We're- well technically I am- but- you're going to be a big sister!"

Her eyes bugged out.

"Shut up!"

I thought it was a bad shut up and my heart sunk in my stomach.

"Oh my god! Mom!"

She got up and rushed over to me and hugged me.

"Is it a boy? Will I have a brother? Or a sister?!" She asked smiling so big that if she smiled any bigger she would break something.

"So you're happy?" I asked.

"Yeah! I've always wanted a little brother or sister!" She said.

I was so glad that she was fine with the idea of me having another baby. A few weeks passed and all I wanted to do was eat! I mostly craved cake so Shayne had to keep those in stock in the fridge.

And then like clock work I would have to make a dash to the bathroom each night.

But it was worth it.

Emma decided that she wanted to learn how to play the piano.

I started to show, and it happened almost over night.

"Hi baby! Hi!"

I smiled.

"I can't wait to meet you! I'm your daddy!"

"Who said you were the father?" I asked.

You should have seen his face.

"Relax! It was a joke! Of course you are the father!"

I spend the next ten minutes laughing hysterically while trying to get him calmed down.

With all jokes aside it was time to get back to work.

Cristina looks like your wish came true! :P

Let me know what you guys think! Will it be a boy or a girl?
