@sosobaggins, you can change the name of your store in build mode; up in the top bar where the name is.

@callycat, your alien gets her disguise when you play her. Put her in the world and click on her; you'll get the option to change into disguise. Once she's done that, you can send her to the mirror or a dresser like a regular sim. I can't remember if you can change weight and skin color, but clothes and hair, certainly.

Just a small update on the Tend Photo Studio interaction. Apparently the game mechanic is akin to playing for tips or doing a comedy routine - the game will send you nearby Sims if they are indeed nearby. That seems to be the key. It has nothing to do with the photo studio being in a retail store or on your home lot. You just need Sims in close proximity because no one will just randomly come from the sidewalk onto your lot to get their photo taken. They need to be on your lot already - and again, close to your Sim. The bad news? During the couple hours that the interaction takes with your photographer standing in front of the camera you might get two or three Sims to pay to have their photo taken. It may even be the same Sim willing to stand in front of the lights the whole time and have a few shots taken, but you get only $10 per shot. And then of course you can sell the photographs, but I have not seen a photo worth more than $40 in inventory yet.

Metro, have you tried hanging some photos on the walls and marking them for sale? I usually get about 7-10 people in my gnome shop, even when my sim isn't there. And I've read that the key to selling things you make yourself is to not restock, but take down the "for sale" sticker, put up a new photo or picture from your inventory, and then mark that for sale.

I haven't tried this yet, so don't know whether it would work. So far my sims have been happy just taking selfies with the phone.

I haven't had a Sim give birth at the hospital, but from my experience with the Baby Boomer challenge I've found that the pregnant woman is always massive, regardless of whether she's going to give birth to a single baby or twins, and that her size doesn't change depending on which it is.

If you play the scientist career all the way through, I've read it will give involve aliens and alien objects at some point, so you'll get to do both at once.

Thank you for the input! I don't know why I thought her size would mean more babies in The Sims 4. It's never been confirmed. Maybe I played for too long and my brain went weird.

I haven't looked into any other career yet, so that's good to know! Thank you. Scientist is the one I want to do next, since I am least excited about the medical career.

From the sound of it, Plum meant when a Sim goes to the hospital that was added with the Get to Work expansion to give birth.  Apparently that's an option now.

Yup! That's what I meant.

Is sharing pictures okay? I have some.

Here are some from the Detective career:

Taking photographs of evidence.

Analyzing evidence.

Leading a criminal out of the cell.

Mugshot.

Searching the criminal.

She was also apparently smuggling a turkey baster.

Arresting the perp.

Showing the perp the evidence against him.

Here are some pictures from having the baby at the Hospital:

The adorable gown and the freaking out Daddy.

The removal of the heart.

Which nearly killed my sim.

And then the little nooboo. A girl named Oracle.

The baby was placed into a hospital crib, and then she disappeared and my Sims traveled home where the baby was waiting in a bassinet. It would have been nice for her to carry the baby out of the hospital, but I still liked all the interactions.

Carl you can use these for guides if you don't want to go in-game and take pictures. I hope posting these was okay.

Ah, that makes sense! Thank you, I'll do that :)

I'm honestly very unhappy with this expansion so far. My game crashes every time I try to join my sim at work in one of the new professions, so I'm basically unable to use the expansion at all. I've emptied my modifications folder and that hasn't helped at all. It's irritating to lose progress like this. I guess I'm going to have to report the bugs.

Hopefully this gets fixed quickly. I had the same problem with the cupcake factory when I first started playing.

Hi All.
I've seen several people say they haven't had an alien visit their stores yet in game.
I just wanted to mention, they actually may have.

I played one of my established family's a few days and never saw an alien.
I decided to make a new family to test something, and found the 'create an alien' feature, and decided to play with a household consisting of my created but unplayed "fake Alien" family I made with the Demo before Sims 4 released, and a fake alien founder I'd created for Legacy Challenge, and one "real" alien just to have fun with genetics.

My "real" alien talked to the others without his disguise because I didn't know yet to get him one.. and 2 of the 3 realized "OMG he's an ALIEN".. I disquised him before the 3rd did...
a day Later my "Real" alien met a random sim that he discovered was an alien. (I plan to move her in to marry to my male fake alien.. but using her to test first.)
None of the other sims can figure out she's an alien... no matter what i've tried thus far.
I'm starting to think you can only "discover" this with Whoo-hoo, Move-in, maybe top of scientist alien detectors, and of course having them move in and undisquise.
"Perceptive" (or whatever the current version is called) MAY also do the trick. my current Sims do not have that yet.
-My "Real" alien knew who she was by using the alien 'odd atmospheric pressure today, isn't it?' interaction.

I really enjoyed how I loaded up my Interstellar Smuggler today and, lo and behold, there was a new upgrade available for her Retro Rocketship. Once my new wormhole generator was installed, wham-bam it was off to the alien world of Sixam for some serious collecting and socializing with the natives.

So far I've made a clothes retail and a sim in the doctor career.
I'm loving it so far.
I was quite surprised that there were no new aspirations or traits. Also a bit disappointed. I always look forward to new traits and aspirations.
I love the way you can customize mannequins for the shop. Had a blast with that. The doctor career is also much fun. Since I'll have an extra day off because of Easter I have a little more time to really start playing this weekend. Looking forward to it!

I'm liking the expansion so far, but gave up on running a bakery - I lost money the first couple of days. But I'm really enjoying the doctor career.

Re: aliens in disguise: My doctor saw through the disguise of an alien who was a patient during the examination process. Very hard to diagnose - kept getting inconclusive test results.

So far all I have really explored is the photography skill, which I am loving. I don't know how profitable selling the photos would be as most are only worth a small amount compared to paintings for example, but perhaps as my sim improves his skill the value will increase substantially. I have found that flirty sims when photographed make for photos with a flirty ambience etc so that makes the skills more useful at the beginning of a sims life than the painting skill from that aspect. I'm sure I'll discover more as my sims snaps happily away too. Thumbs up from me so far... a great first expansion pack I think.

I like the fact you can now lock whims in by "pinning them". It always annoyed me you couldn't lock them in before. Note you can't lock the emotional whim in for obvious reasons (different whims for different emotions).

I'm really enjoying it - only played the Doctor career so far (OFB was my least favourite EP so I doubt I'll play much retail).

However, I'm finding the Doctor career really difficult! My sim is at level 5, she has level 7 logic and she keeps getting her diagnoses wrong, even after running all the available tests. It's a bit of a pain to be honest because I feel like I don't really know what I'm doing, but it's fun nevertheless!

That was added with a patch over a month ago, which also added family trees and the ability for wishes to quickly spawn most of the time when an empty slot is available.  It is nice, though.
