As you no doubt picked up in the previous post, Jebediah Helpmann (nee Wilson) has died in game. He was somewhere in his 90's, and died after being able to paint the first two portraits of Marina and the first two or three portraits of Generation Two.

Following his death, Marina was moping around was very miserable. She came up with the following.

On my own

I am Marina, the Helpmann's founder and I married a man much older,
His name was Jebediah and he became a very famous doctor,
But then one night he died ...
And I broke down and cried ...

On my own
Knowing he's looking over me
All alone
I sleep alone at night til morning
Without him
My daughter painted my portrait
And once a week I must sit down and eat
A dish of ambrosia

Twice a week, I'm called away for art appraisals
And I'm fed up, always painting masterpieces
In the darkness, I cry alone, so lonely
Forced to endure life alone, through eight long generations

And I know it isn't for all time
That soon I'll be in his arms once more
And I hope that it isn't a crime
To count the days til I'm with Jeb whom I adore

I love him
But til Gen 8's eats ambrosia
Jeb's a ghost
And I must keep my composure
With the townies gone
Riverview's population changes
The school is bare and everywhere
The streets are filled with strangers

I love him
And everyday I'm painting
All my life
I'll continue to go on working
Unlike him
I'll never get to retire
I'll work each week and eat and sleep
Til my descendants are elder too

I love him
I love him
I love him
But the dynasty must go on

Scientific Clones

This Friday morning sees Marina and Olivia down at the local day spa. Olivia has just found out that she is pregnant, she is sick of the "Apple's Only Diet" that she has been on, but all other food has been taken away from her. Both ladies are waiting for their soothing salvation packages so that both can become less stressed, Marina regarding the recent death of her Jebediah and Olivia due to her sore back.

Marina - *reading from local paper* "Local resident Buzz Rhodes died yesterday."

Olivia - "Another one, mummy?"

Marina - "Yeah, another one. As a young adult, you can call me Mum or Mother. Additionally you are pregnant. Aren't you a bit old to be calling me 'mummy'?"

Olivia - "But you are almost an elder, mummy. And ... What is the problem?"

Marina - "Well, I know you married your former imaginary friend, Riley. But not all your children are going to be able to do that necessarily. We need other sources of partners for my grandchild, great grandchild etc."

Olivia - "What about the people who have moved to town? The Jares family for instance."

Marina - "No! We are not having them enter our family."

Olivia - "But then what are we going to do?"

*Riley walked out of the spa at that point, and spoke to them*

Riley - "I have a solution, some may say it is a bit wicked, but I promise you, I'm not defying gravity, and what I'm proposing is for good."

*Music fills to a crescendo, some of the nearby NPCs stand in unusual positions and it seems that Riley is about to sing and dance, sure enough, that's what happens ...*

Riley
Whenever I see a townie who one day's gonna go away with Grimm
And lets face, which one of 'em won't go one day wit' 'im?
My Science Books, I simply have to read ...

And when our offspring needs a spouse one day,
I'll learn to sample a townie's DNA
I know, I know, exactly what we'll need
A test tube to breed ...

Scientific clones, our child will marry a scientifically bred clone
Of George or June or Buck or Joy
So the Helpmanns gets townie D.N.A.
We'll raise them in the dynasty-ay

I know not to try to get some from sims neurotic
Just the thought of it causes 'em to feel quite sick
And our friendship drops like a brick
So a friendship potion at 'em I hafta flick
Just to keep in play, those townie's D.N.A.
In the bloodline of our family-ay

Spa Lady (speaking, while Riley pantomimes doing the scientific actions): Marina, Olivia, your Soothing Salvation packages are ready.

Riley  (continues to sing):
And though the clones will have
No parents
I know clandestinely
You're gonna want me to do it
Breed scientific clones to be spouses after me - ay!
 La la la la
They'll all be scientific clones
But not imaginary
like me!

Can you guess what musical the above is based on? I may have given clues above?

Current status (contains spoilers)
Marina (Prior) Helpmann - Gen 1 - Immortal
Jebediah Helpmann (nee Wilson) - Gen 1 Spouse - Dead
Olivia (Newton-John) Helpmann - Gen 2 - Immortal
Riley Helpmann (former imaginary friend) - Gen 2 Spouse - Dead
Hugh (Jackman) Helpmann - Gen 3 - Adult
Cate (Blanchette) Helpmann (scientific clone of Lauren Grisby) - Gen 3 Spouse - Adult
Simon (Gallagher) Helpmann - Gen 4 - YA
Lucy (Durack) Lin (scientific clone of Shirley Lin) - Gen 4 Girlfriend - YA (pregnant)
Peter (Allen) (scientific clone of Billy Caspian) - Gen 5 future spouse/boyfriend - Toddler

Lucy is pregnant with Gen 5, which will bring the family to full. Lucy has taken over the scientific clone duties from Riley after his death. Hugh has just completed his LTW/Maxed Career of Become an Astronaut/Military Career and so I've just got his best friends and elder portrait to go, as he had previously supermaxed Handiness and met other requirements. He has also supermaxed athletics skill and is currently working inventing. Gen 1 paints almost non-stop and Gen 2 writes until she is stressed/needs to take care of needs at which time she pops in a motive mobile, drives to the corner, gets out, returns home and continues writing. Game is currently at Monday, week 17.

That song is Popular from Wicked! Wow, only 16 weeks in and gen 5 is about to be born? Dang, the Helpmanns move fast! Like, seriously, wow. I wonder if someone should try to make their Founder's SuperMax Science, that would get townie DNA quickly and ensure the new additions for the entire dynasty. Hmm...*writes that down*

@Lisa46 and @dontmindme, both of you are correct. Basically as each of the Helpmann's heir and potential spouse reach YA, they get married and try for baby. It is a bit production line-ish, but I am determined to be as quick as possible with this one. :) Also, not having helpers at first helped me.

My biggest/only regret so far with this one was making my Gen 2 spouse IF. Both Gen 3 and Gen 4 have the IF gene.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled Helpmann Dynasty with a newsflash ...

Simon (Gallagher) Helpmann (Generation 4) and Lucy (Durack) Helpmann (scientific clone of one of the Lin sisters) are very happy to announce the birth of their daughter, Nancye (Hayes) Helpmann, Generation 5 of their immortal dynasty and playmate (and future spouse) of Peter (Allen) Caspian (scientific clone of Billy Caspian) on Wednesday, week 17. Mother and daughter are doing well following their home birth.

Nancye is the grand daughter of Hugh (Jackman) Helpmann (Generation 3) and Cate (Blanchette) Helpmann (scientific clone of the Grisby daughter), great grand daughter of Olivia (Newton John) Helpmann (Generation 2) and Marina (Prior) Helpmann (Founder).

By the end of week 17 Handyman Astronaut Hugh will be an elder and have to firm up best friends and be painted before joining his mother and grandmother in their weekly eating of ambrosia.

We are currently at 8 members, and so Cate will need to depart with Grimm before Generation 6 is brought in ... but there is much to happen before that - birthdays, portraits, skills, black ops, employment and more.

So, as they say in the classics -  its on with the show.

I love your cloning program. I'm so tempted to try this myself. So when you clone via science, you get a baby in your household who's not related, right? Great plan!

Yay, Helpmanns! Gen Five already, I'm still in awe. Good luck to the Helpmanns, nooboo and almost elder alike. What's the record for quickest completion of an ID?

I've started an ID using my Founder's Science skill to clone spouses. It's a lot of fun but it's also really stressful because there are so many great-looking sims to choose from. How does one choose?

The record's at 41 weeks and 2 days for in-game time. I'll be impressed if someone can beat it...better that than beating the record for longest in-game time, for sure.

Hopefully the death wait won't be too tough.

Regarding Scientific Clones
The issue with scientific clones is the risk of them becoming long lived occults.

That happened to me with my first attempt at my Gen 5 to-be spouse (Dimitri Ivanov clone) which became a werewolf somehow. He wasn't born a werewolf, and I'm certain Dimitri wasn't a werewolf at the time I took his DNA. Dimitri may have become a werewolf later, or perhaps one of his family members (father/mother/grandmother) were werewolves, or maybe it was just random. I subsequently decided to go with Billy Caspian as provider of the DNA, and the clone was thankfully born a normal sim and remains a normal sim. None of my other scientific clones have been anything other than ordinary sims.

@KRae yes, that's correct for clones from the science skill. I've discovered through testing that neurotic sims won't give up their DNA (neither Hunter Cottoneye nor Constance Shelley gave their DNA and Neurotic is their common trait). The baby clone has two of the traits of the DNA provider.

@dontmindme and you will only have up to 5 that can be spouses for your immortals. :) I chose ones that had features I wanted to try to get into the family (Grisby daughter) ones that I had rarely used previously (the Lin sister) or ones that I found easy to track down (Billy Caspian).

@Trip @dontmindme I'm motived to get through this without too many issues. Breaking records isn't my focus. I am doing medium portraits, and whatever the first one is that is painted by a painter is the one I go with. I'm not doing sculpting/photographs for the museum. I'm thinking I'll have either heir 7 or heir 8 do sculpting. My current saved game has the ending of 3m - meaning the 13th saved game of working on Gen 3 becoming immortal.

I think I'd probably start with all occults turned off except witches. That's what I generally do when they're not allowed to be part of the family. It saves a lot of grief.

My game never turns enough sims to cause a problem. It just helps with original townie spouses for me and I keep them all on.

In game, Gen 5 became a toddler today (Saturday week 17, Gen 3 is just one day from becoming an elder and Gen 4 is a third (or so) of the way through YA. Gen 5 spouse turned child yesterday (clone of Billy Caspian).

Anyway, Gen 5 has revealed herself to have colour matching hair and eyes. I have changed her hair style, but not her hair colour.

What are you going to do with Gen 7 since you can't add anyone to the house and all the townies will be dead? Then you'll have to travel to have the Gen 7 heiress get pregnant. :(
I play The Sims 4 for fun, so I don't care if I never end up being interviewed for the Dynasty Hall of Fame; people who play for keeps burn out too easily and don't enjoy playing the games, so I am going to not sweat the details.

On Sunday of Week 18, Hugh (Jackman) Helpmann became an elder, changed his hair and outfits, posed for his elder portrait and hit the local parks in the mid afternoon to toss potent friendship potions at random townies.

On Monday of Week 18, Hugh got the message that one of his best friends would have a meeting with Grim later that day, and so as everything was in place, consumed ambrosia for the first time.

Hugh (Jackman) Helpmann (Generation Three) immortal - Monday Week 18
Traits - Athletic, Brave, Eccentric, Friendly, Handy
Spouse - Cate (Blanchette) Helpmann (clone of Grisby's daughter)
Unique LTW - Become an Astronaut
3 Unique LTRs - Meditative Trance-Like Sleep, Efficient Inventor, Hover Bed
Unique Supermaxed Skill - Handiness
Other Maxed Skills - Athletics, Artistic, Inventing
6 Black Ops - Captain Bandsaw, The Muscle Hustle, Learn Martial Arts, Seeking New Recruits, Scrap for Toys?, Mummitorium
Other Ops - After School Reward Ceremony, Broadway Cameo, Make-A-Dream, Research Project, Work/School Learning Project
Property Owned and Fully Upgraded - Wright's Reading Room
Building Fully Owned - Vault of Antiquity
6 Best Friends - Cate (Blanchette) Helpmann (wife, nee Grisby), Simon (Gallagher) Helpmann (Son, Generation 4), Alice Hernandez, Kristoffer Russ, Kendall Russ, Van Browne
Portraits - Toddler, Child, Adolescent, Young Adult, Adult, Elder

And now that Hugh has reached immortality, he will spend his days of unending elderhood on the trampoline, jumping up and down, his part of the journey done.

EtnaFan, that is still a long time off, but I have a plan to deal with it.
