Date Chess

When dating, has anyone have any problems with getting their date to stop playing chess?  I've tried doing all the stand up actions but the game automatically switches them to sit down ones.  I've also hit cancel several times.  I was thinking of going into build/buy mode to remove the board but in the fear of penalizing me.  I even hit sit button to cancel the sitting and nothing worked.  They kept right on playing chess.  I know chess is a very fun, challenging, and intriguing game but come on.  Is this a known glitch?  I'm open to any solutions.

In every Sim game I've played, once a Sim you don't control starts playing chess, they don't stop until their needs get very low.  I'm not sure why.  If you move the chess board, they will stop playing.  You don't get penalized for doing this.

Unless you are doing a challenge or dynasty.  In a dynasty you are not allowed to enter build/buy except on your own lot.  If the chess game is on your lot then moving it would be ok.

You're right.  I was assuming the date was at home.

Sorry for not being specific enough but it was in my home and I'm glad you can remove the items when doing a challenge or a dynasty.  Thanks for the replies.
