Making a Band?

So I read the "lesson" about starting a band and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. It says that you can get the "start a band" option once you are level 1 in any instrument. I am level 3 now and I met a celebrity playing in a bar and the option is not available on her. Maybe the celebrity is not at least level 1? Has anyone successfully started a band?

Are you able to have normal social interactions with the celebrity?  I personally have not started a band, but I do know that you have to impress the celebrity before you can have normal social interactions.  Hope that helped.

Actually she was lower than me and I already got the message that I can interact socially with her. I was level 4 celebrity and she was level 1 or 2. Later, my sim was talking to Jeffrey Cook (a guy from Bridgeport) and I could ask him to join a band. I wonder if she was already in a band?

Just a quick answer about sims bands: do they register at a band in the job mode, with or without Ambitions?

This question buzzed me too... I think that it has something to do with your sim's relationship status with the other sim. Because all the bands I've created were out of friends.

As far as I know you do not need to be friends with a Sim for them to join a band with you.

It might be true, but I didn't get the option to create a band till I actually was a friend to a sim. But that may have been a coincidence, of course.

It's most definitely true. Now, with the latest patch...who knows? But, at least in the Band Guide article I recently wrote everyone joined the band at Acquaintance level.

I can't remember actually. I haven't played the game with the band for some time (it's the one that has the bug with sims not leaving a lot, so I've created a new game after that)...

Hey Leto, I don't have Ambitions and my Sim registered as Self-Employed -> Band through the laptop!

Is there a way to disband a band? I can quit the job, but I can't quit the band.

You should be able to ask everyone in the Band to leave (or maybe the social is Fire, not sure). Then, you'd be left with your main controlling Sim and no Band.
