I no longer hire butlers because they are more trouble than they're worth most of the time. They either interfere or disappear so I try to have a neat natural cook in every home!lol

One of those very useful threads.  Thanks folks.

We have just moved Dave and Vicky Beckmann [yes, I know  ;D] from their apartment to a big new house I built.  Designed for a 4-star Celebrity Athlete and a 5-star Celebrity Actress, of course.

I built a room for the Butler behind the garage, and when they get back from France they're going to be hiring.  It will be interesting to see how he/she behaves.  Locking the fridge away is going to be difficult, as the design is very open-plan ... but suitable for Celebrity-only parties, of course.

Ah, the tales of the runaway butler.  I was quite unpleased when I discovered my butler not only dissapeared, but continued to demand payment.  I mean, not that I was necessarily peeved by the money loss, being a distinguished director receiving jacuzzis left and right (what do they expect me to do with a seventh hot tub?!), but it was none the less grating.

I eventually devised a plan to shrink my funds under 1k and keep them their so he'd be furious from not receiving payment.  At which point I just... stopped receiving word.  No confirmation that he was quitting do to wages, just silence.  It was really weird.

Another time, a butler's service somehow transferred from one family to another when I changed households.

Oh, sweet irony, deliver me from coincidence.

Please feel free to utilize any of my builds in any of your stories and so forth.

From one angle, we could consider that EA have actually programmed the Butler to reflect reality.
It's very hard to get, and retain, good domestic staff these days  ;D

I think it is eighter bad progamming about the making food every 2 hours (which I highly doubt) or EA wants us to find a way to get around that whole thing.

One of the members of one of my families, has the butler as a old friend. I think that might help them stay. ;)

I wish it did help.  My butler was best friends with the household and still left.  He also demanded payment, even though he was working there anymore.  My sim found him downtown one day and started talking.  One of the interactions was to "dismiss".  It didn't say anything about firing him, so I clicked on dismiss and never heard from him again, too weird, lol. :D

I was very disappointed at the Butler. All he did was cook endless waffles. He lasted a week, and his £2,000 bed was sold to buy a better TV :P

True, you need to have a nice relationship with your butler. Just leaving him alone taking care of everything isn't enough.

I'm worried that the Butler seems to have the hots for Vicky Beckmann ... however, at the moment he's asleep in a sarcophagus in the basement.

However ... the game is now so slow and choppy he may have to go.  It was bad enough [like zzzzz] when Dave and Vicky had their apartment, but now it's ridiculous.  Neither of them go to work properly [ResetSim all the time] to the point that we've abandoned a day's play.  Unhappy.

Am I still the only one who actually like the butler? True, I don't like that forever cooking, but locking the kitchen door seems to help with that. All he does now is cleaning the bed, take care of children, washing clothes and being entertaining to my household. Also he seems to entertain my guests at parties. No, I like him to stay. And fortunately, he seems to think the same. :)

THANK YOU! I could not for the life of me figure out how to stop the butler from cooking. Now I have it.

That's a great idea! The only bad thing is I like open floor plans and my kitchen usually does not have a door :(

Unless you have a really good architectural solution for that I have no clue than separate the kitchen from the living room (or dining room). It's either that, or being overfed. :P
