Royalties from Book of Life
« on: March 06, 2015, 03:54:58 PM »
My Sim has completed the Bestselling Author aspiration, and can write the Book of Life.  I tried publishing a copy, but can't see how much it made in royalties since there are too many royalties already on the list to see it.  Does anyone know whether it's a good money maker when published?

Better late than never  :)

I have only recently started playing Sims 4.

I tried publishing "the Book of Life" using a copied sim so she had no books getting royalties.  She did not receive payment for the book of life.  But she was able to dedicate her second write to my played sim. :)

Very usefull this book. :)  It works like the moodlet manager from sims 3 (100% reliable so far).  I can't see a way of getting the sim to use it to restore others though :(.

Now, back to my old saved game to get the book without using the above exploit :).  She will just have to get someone to move in with her and then do nothing but write until level 10  ;D

Thanks for the reply.  Even after all this time, I still had never found out the answer to that question until now.

It is a very useful book.  Each person that you want to use it on must have a book written specifically for them.  The author will never be able to write one about himself.

Clay, I wonder if you, or anyone else knows the answer to the way the sim puts the book down "where ever" after use.  With two floating about I have a job locating them when needed if I forget to ensure they are returned to the inventory after use.  Any suggestions?

I have my Sim sit down at a chair next to an end table, and then have them read.  When I do this, the Sim will almost always set the book down at the end table when they are done reading.  This doesn't apply for the book of life, since Sims read this while standing up. I always have to look for those.

If you click on a bookshelf and select "clean up books," your sim will pick them up and put them away. It's good for the ones that they've hidden behind the computer, etc. But you have to be careful not to interrupt them with another task. I think the maid might pick them up, too.

If you don't mind mods, you can use Scumbumbo's Put Books Away Mod; it works for me.

You might also try to make a room better designed for reading, with comfy seating, a bookshelf on hand, and absolutely no empty surface on any piece of furniture.

Otherwise, as the previous post said, "Clean Up Books" from a bookshelf is your friend.

The sims are, by default, programmed to put down books onto the first available surface; they will only try to place the books in bookshelves if they can't find any open surface nearby. If they also can't find a bookshelf, they will resort to putting the book on the floor.

I wish the sims is programmed to first search of ANY shelves to put book down and if it is not available find nearest surface. If both is unavailable, then they can at least put book in inventory.
