Late Night and Legacy Families
« on: October 30, 2010, 08:56:52 PM »
If I'm understanding this correctly, if we want to have a traditional legacy or generational family, as soon as we move adult offspring into another house and thus give up control of them, they and/or their children could end up as vampires?

In what other ways will Late Night affect generational play?

Also, do clubs for other towns come with the game (Like the salon, con store,ect) , or do we have to build our own? If they come with the game, how many are there? Is there a posh one and a vamp one also? I think rhwew might be, but I'm not sure. What about celebs and vampires? Do they appear in the older towns automaticly? Thanks :)

@LlamaMama:

I've seen a couple of my townies turn into vampires, so I think it's safe to say that anyone living in town can become a vampire, even a member of your family who is moved out of the legacy house.

@RubyLovesSims:

There are other topics that are better for your question.  This is more for legacy issues than general town issues.

That's a shame. With the other expansions we could choose which games we want to travel in, or not (for instance), or make simbots in. We'd only have playable ghosts if we wanted to. I guess there's no option to turn vampires off for certain games, and on in others.

Probably not.  There are random ghosts around the towns and of course in the cemetary, but I know it's not the same as the possibility of one of your legacy Sims turning into a vampire.

I find the Vampires the Best thing in a Dynasty game! The Vamps stay around longer, also a lot of Diana's existing friends who are older than her are now Vampires so in Theory she will age faster and they will stay alive!  :D

OK now that I have Late Night I would like to take a stab at the Legacy and/or Dynasty Challenge. I have questions:

1. In the Dynasty challenge, there are specific lots we are supposed to place our family. Can I put the Dynasty in Bridgeport? If so, where? Is there a specific place that the Legacy family has to be at?

2. Can any of my immortals be Vampires, either by being turned or being born vampires? Is that possible for them to eat ambrosia? Can I have the 'spare' Sims be vampires? I guess this question goes for ghosts as well.

I guess that's all the questions I have. I keep putting off trying these because I'm afraid I'll mess up. I'm not really clear on some of the guidelines. But it's probably best to just dive right in, huh?

The questions about the Immortal Dynasty need to be asked on the Immortal Dynasty thread.  Actually, I think they've already been answered and the rules have been modified for Late Night.  As for the legacy, we don't have an answer for that because we didn't write the legacy rules.  Pinstar on the official Sims 3 forum is the author of the most popular legacy challenge and he hasn't updated the rules since he wrote them when Sims 3 first came out, as far as I know.

Pinstar did include this scenario in the legacy rules:

Quote
If additional neighborhoods are made available with mods or EPs, or we gain the ability to plop our own lots down, they may be used, as long as the lot in question is completely empty and costs at least $14,700.

I don't have Late Night, so I'm not familiar with Bridgeport, but that's what you need to look for.

I can't recall if the family funds cheat lets you reduce your household's money, but an alternative is to pick an empty lot and drop your cash down to $1,300.  The main point is that you start with nothing and have to decide how best to spend your meagre funds.

The problem is that there aren't any empty lots at that price in the newer towns.  For the Immortal Dynasty Challenge, Metro has made accomodations for the lots that are available, but Pinstar hasn't published anything specific for new towns.  I suppose it doesn't really matter because there's not a leader board or hall of fame for the legacy challenge and most players change the rules to suit themselves anyway.

Thanks Pam. I'll check that Dynasty thread again. Perhaps I didn't see an answer or it wasn't updated. I saw a mention of the Dynasty and thought my inquiry would fit here. I'll refer to the other thread.

Thanks.  It's just that the title of this thread is legacy families, which is different from our sponsored Immortal Dynasty challenge.
