Help with splitting households?

I have a family with 1 elder, 1 adult, 1 young adult, 2 teens, and a child. The young adult is in a relationship with Alexander Goth and I'm trying to make her move into his house (Goth household). I don't know if I should split or merge the households? I didn't try anything yet because I didn't want to mess up the households.
