Small bait ?
« on: February 15, 2015, 11:49:16 AM »
I am trying without success for a while to catch a red-tailed black shark for the fish collection. I have to fish 2 full days to catch enough minnows and tetras to waste them all next day without a catch in the pond of the Willow creek park. Does perch, goldfish and kissing gourami enter in the category of small fish ( for bait purpose for this red tail black shark) ? I used also guppies and bettas.

I had no luck catching the red tailed black shark in that pond, either.  I searched online and found a suggestion to try the small fishing area at the back of Oasis Spring's park (the one close to the cave entrance).  I eventually caught it there.  As for the bait, having the preferred bait may improve the chances of catching a certain fish, but in completing my collection, I caught most fish without any bait at all or with the wrong bait.

I've caught it with minnows and beta's in the Willow Creek Park pond, Oasis Springs Park pond as well as its fishing spot near the cave. I also caught it in Sylvan Glade, both in the pond and the waterfall fishing spot. The last three fishing spots mentioned seem the best, because bait requirements change a lot. I caught more red-tailed sharks with beta than with minnow.

Thank you both. I was finally able to catch 3 sharks in a row in Sylvan Glade pond using kissing gourami in 5 minutes real time . Not after frustration with willow creek and oasis spring park ponds. I am wondering if this ponds still contain the sharks, maybe they were moved to special areas ponds in one of the last patches. I mean, come on I fished 48 hours ( in sims time )with 2 sims ( one lvl 10 and the other lvl 7) in both park ponds and not a single shark. In that time the lvl 7 sims dinged lvl 10 in fishing.

Fishing in sims 4 is all about luck, really annoying.
