Finding Celebrities (sunset valley)
« on: October 30, 2010, 06:10:36 AM »
I am struggling to find celebrities to get my sim to chat to in order to gain some celebrity fame. Is there another way to get that first star? I am playing sunset valley, and I looked outside the theatre and in the main park (from a tip in Metro's new article where he found a celeb), but there are only ordinary sims there. How do I tell if someone is a celebrity anyway? Does it show with their name or something?

I tried hanging around aquarius for a night (it was a hot spot), but after bribing to get in, no one appeared and my sim had to leave because it closed. The only people that turned up outside were other neighbourhood sims (like the langraabs), some mixologists, and the bouncer.

I have no clue how to find a celebrity for her to chat with. Does anyone know an easy way to find one?

Two of my Dreamweavers (Sunset Valley) met the same celebrity through opportunities.  Then Banana met one at a party she was invited to.  When you hover your cursor over a celebrity, you'll see their stars.  That's the only way I know to spot one.

It takes a few sim days, but I finally found a papparazi taking a photo and moused over the sim and sure enough, they had one star.  After a few more days a few more popped up, funny thing was, they were all regular townies that I played with prior to installing LN.  Then I looked in friends list and hovered mouse over the sims friends and discovered two more stars and a vampire. :)

Locals will start becoming celebs after about a week or so of gameplay.  I tested this by using the cheat to add 20,000 LTH points and bought the map to the stars.  This item show you on the map the locations of all celebs in town, and can be sorted with a filter, from one to five star, or all celebs.

My Clan Douglas Dynasty in SV has no trouble finding celebrities.  In fact, I find it a bit annoying when I send my sim over to meet someone and my sim can't interact with the other character until they first take the time to impress them.

Hmmmm. I may be having a problem finding them because I have story progression turned off. (because I want to play all families in the neighbourhood). Will NPC celebrities turn up?

Do you mean like the maid or pizza guy?  Maybe, but I think it'll have to be townies.

Not necessarily maids, I just thought there would be some new NPCs that are just there to be "celebrities". But I'm guessing that won't happen, so I may have to turn story progression on for a little time to get some of the townies to become celebrities...

I have yet to play without story progression. So I am not sure about that. Before I knew they would come eventually, I just made some celebrities move from Bridgeport to Sunset Valley. That seemed to jump start things there.

bde you're a genius! I'll just add some celebrity townies from Bridgeport, then get my sims to talk to them, then delete them again! I may even continue playing them. I love this forum for ideas like this :D

Do you think I'd have to move some vampires too? Would I have the same problem with there being no NPC vampires?

In my testing, eventually a pair of homeless vampire NPCs showed up in town.

Hello, Sorry to jump in but how do you get them to move to Sunset Valley??  New to Sim 3! Used to play the orginal sims  :-[  that shows my age  ;D

I love sunset valley and can not get used to the new town so would be great to move some of the celebs to sunset valley! :)

You could go to Bridgeport, save a couple of celebrity sims to library and go back to Sunset and move celebrity sims out of library and befriend them that way.  Basically just what Pallyndrome said. :)

I have met several celebrities at the library, though mostly just one and two star.
