[BUG] Boring/Awkward Conversations *Fixed!!*
« on: February 09, 2015, 02:47:17 AM »
Has anyone else had this? I'm not sure if it's from the latest patch or buying Outdoor Retreat, but the conversation info thing quite often comes up with boring or awkward conversation, yet the sims carry on like it's a pleasant conversation. They don't actually get a bored or uncomfortable moodlet. My sim went and visited her BFF and the first conversation I had was "Ask about day" and it came up as awkward conversation. My sim is doing the athletic career so she's often at the gym, I know a lot if the sims traits, but if I talk to them about something they like, it comes up as boring conversation.

I noticed this just after the latest patch, but not after ODR. I thought it was because I chose basic traits that didn't provide a lot of moodlets other than happy. My current sim is cheerful, good, and confident. He gets a lot of the bored moodlet from normal conversation which I had rarely seen before. My other sim gets a lot more of the awkward moodlet. She is cheerful, outgoing, and confident.

I've seen this happening too on all of my Sims starting right after the last patch.

I thought I was doing something wrong. After other household members joined my couples romantic interactions, they all have the awkward conversation popup all the time now  >:(

My sims have been having boring conversations. When I mouse over the box above, I get told that sims get bored if you keep using the same interactions. Usually, I haven't been controlling what they say, so I don't know what they're doing. As for awkward, I guess when you say something to one person, you say it to everyone in a group. And when you think about it, it is awkward being with a couple who are flirting. Two's company, three's a crowd, etc.

I've had awkward/boring before, usually in the scenarios you mentioned. Like flirting when others are around etc. I control what my sim says, because I'm levelling up friendships. It sounds like a glitch to me, if everyone else seems to have it. At one point, my sim was telling a ghost story to four friends in the pool, it came up with boring conversation and the friends promptly left the house after that!

It is totally very different than it was before the patch. Now even best friends are having boring conversations when no interaction has been repeated. It's annoying! I guess it will get fixed in another patch, whenever the next one's due. Well, I hope it will anyway.
I have also noticed that now if you try to do a joke twice (which before was absolutely ok to do) it flops and the other sims do the frustrated arm swing movement and you can even get a negative hit to the relationship.

Well I guess it's the vicious circle, new patch fixes old problems, then we have to deal with a bunch of new problems until the next patch.

I'm sure there is a way to report issues in the game though I have never done it before. This sure seems like something that should be fixed asap, and not just in some future patch. Game play is altered and relationship building (which is already more difficult in Sims 4) is made twice as hard.

Please refer to This Thread for officially reporting any bugs in the game.  Also, check to see if someone has already reported it.  If you, you can click on their post and there's a button "Me Too" on that post so you can easily show you're experiencing the same thing.  It's a great way for the developers to see how wide spread a problem might be.

Followed through with your suggestions Dellena and there was one other post about awkward, boring conversation but it was mostly about inappropriate conversations/actions.  I'm finding most conversations wind up awkward or boring no matter when they begin or who they are with.  My inappropriate conversation was Nancy and her son, Malcolm, Landgraab flirting pretty seriously with one another.  In this case there was an emotional aura item in the room so I will disable that but they seem to want to get cozy no matter where they are.

Check their buffs to see what has got them in a flirty mood.  If it's decor, you've got an item with an aura.  It could be from a steamy shower, etc.  See where the mood is coming from.

Woah! Sounds like their relationship has been changed in some way. Maybe in CAS? Does it still show that they are mother/son in their friendship panel @Joria  ? If it doesn't then you know why they are flirting with each other. If it still shows as mother/son... then it must be a bug!

Yes! Using the cas.fulleditmode cheat, you can accidentally break relationships. I noticed that if you age up a child to a young adult/adult/elder, even temporarily, to see what they will look like grown, and their parent(s) isn't elder, it will reset them to "roommate" and kill the family tie.  In the case of the Landgraabs, Malcolm is a teen with 7 days to YA at the beginning, if I remember right, while Nancy and Geoffrey don't age up until about 14 days later.   I wonder, if you put them in CAS after Malcolm's birthday but before Nancy's, using fulleditmode, and exited it again, if it would see the adult with a YA child as a broken setting and reset it to roommate without telling you?

If you did not use cas.fulleditmode, though, I can't imagine how else it would be allowing them to flirt.  I have heard of a bug where children show up as flirty sometimes, so maybe it's related to that bug?

I didn't take them to CAS at all.  You can't use full edit mode with a dynasty and their clothes were ok enough I didn't bother with a wardrobe for any of them.  Malcolm had aged up already and Nancy is pregnant.  I think the issue is there was an emotional aura, (flirty), item close by.  They are still mother and son.
