Rotating lots
« on: January 17, 2015, 04:18:16 PM »
When you start on an empty lot and download a house from your library it is often facing the wrong direction. I know you can rotate the house, but that won't do any good with a landscaped garden, so I'm wondering if there's any way to rotate the whole lot you downloaded or if you have to start over until you find a lot that makes the house face the right way.

Thanks in advance!

I've asked one of the sim gurus about this and at the moment, there is no way to rotate the whole lot.

@Twinmum I read in a forum somewhere something about moving the mailbox to where you want the front of the lot to be. Will this work with pre-built downloads or is it just for fresh, new builds? I must say, it seems the folks at Maxis/EA's excitement over getting TS4 out the door caused them to be somewhat shortsighted regarding some rather important features. This one, in particular, is more than just an irritation as an incorrect orientation can well determine the feasibility of using a download. Particularly those builds with pools anywhere on the lot because, of course, the pool, like landscape, will not rotate with the build.

Not sure about the mailbox thing. I'm just checking out Granite falls at the moment, but will have a look at how that works when my sim returns home.

@1Saved_Diva I just tested the mailbox placement and unfortunately, the placement of the mailbox has no influence on the placement of lots from the gallery/library  :-[

@Twinmum  My hope was that I was doing something wrong and that your results would be different from mine. Oh well :-\, thank you for checking. Seriously, I really appreciate your time. Blessings to you!

Thanks for the answer, I was suspecting that you couldn't do this, but had to ask in case I had missed it. :)

It is truly staggering that such a giant bug was first, allowed to make it out of testing and second, that it still hasn't been addressed by now.  I'm really, really sorry that I bought this!!

Perhaps you need to update your game @WaldoNova because this is no longer an issue. We can rotate whole lots.

The button at the top of the screen which allowed you to rotate the whole house now has two options when you click on it.  One option is to still move just the house.  The other it to move the whole lot.
