First post here!

My sim is normally tan and has another set of default clothes. For some reason, no matter if I change his clothes or cheat to get into CAS (which restores his normal color without me doing anything, simply entering the mode changes his skin color back,) he keeps turning green and wearing the university welcome kit gear. I have the complete collection with all EP and stuff installed. Sim has "super green thumb" lifetime reward and 3-4 degrees (1-2 from lifetime rewards). Only cheat I have used is "make needs static"(so I can level up skills without needs.) Also, no plantSim or plantSim related activities have happened or triggered.
Thanks in advance I hope I've given enough information to be useful.

Hi Sims3nthusiast,

Welcome to the forum. I've never heard of this problem happening, and am not finding anything about it while searching on it. Have you tried resetting the Sim, or playing from a previously backed up game save?

You mention that you have only used one cheat. Have you got any mods installed ?

Going somewhat off Twinmum's question, are you using any custom content? If so, they maybe messing up your game.

Check on the 3rd Party Custom Content -- If you've got custom content, (items not made by EA aka 3rd party content) or even items from the Sims3Store or the Exchange. Try starting the game without it, by opening the launcher, click the Installed Content Tab. Check mark Run Game Without Custom Content. Then click the Play button.

Going through your custom content from time to time is a good idea to make sure none of it's bad. As bad custom content will mess up your game for whatever reason and may make it, glitchy or unplayable.

Check the Mods -- If you have mods in your game. Try running the game without the mods. By moving the mods folder to your desktop.

Thanks so much for the replies; I haven't installed any mods, when I get home this afternoon I will try to start without custom content. I do have some items from the Sims3Store installed, maybe they are messed up. I will try all of the suggestions (resetting, play without custom content, fixing custom content) and report back ASAP.

MrsFlynn: I'm not sure about the recovering a backed up save file, I don't know exactly when this problem started, and I progressed pretty far since it began as the first couple times I just used CAS to revert back to normal color and tried to reset outfit by changing to default/selecting new default outfits and then going out. Does the game back up saves automatically? If so, where would I find them?

Again, Thanks MrsFlynn and Twinmum!

Hi Sims3nthusiast,

No Sims 3 doesn't save automatically. While reading over your reply an idea came to me that it maybe part of the career outfit bug. Read the link below to find out more it.

Weird Career-Outfits

That may help with the changing of the outfits. I'm still not sure what to do with the changing of the skin color though. I'm sorry, I am totally coming up blank on that one. :(

I definitely changed careers recently and I had taken the aptitude test but hadn't gone to University. Maybe I got stuck with that outfit since that's what you wear after you take the test and have the moodlet for "going off to college" or whatever it is. I will try the fix for this and let you know what happens.

Thanks again!

I think I may have found something that might be of interest on the green skin tone.

Topic: Vampire; eyes, skin (colors.)

I read it over. Not sure if there is a said fix for it. But it makes me want to ask the questions of did your Sim get bitten by a Vampire or drink any elixirs?

I have Supernatural. But I don't play with the supernatural stuff. It all gets turned off.

I do have supernatural installed, but I have avoided the supernatural types like the plague, and the CAS screen says I'm a regular human. I haven't had any elixirs either.

I am about to try out the other fixes you suggested earlier. I'll let you know how it turns out.

Just want to add that custom content from the sims store doesn't usually mess up. But content made by other sims user does. Correct me if I'm wrong anyone.

I had one game where I downloaded a bad non-EA skin (actually my cousin did it) and all my sims started rapidly switching between skin colors. It was actually pretty awesome. I ended up having to delete the CC, but it still wasn't out of my game so I had to factory reset. Game = fixed!

Hope that helped.

Thanks for all the helpful tips everyone. I have been dealing with some drama the last few days so I haven't been playing recently. I did try to start the game without CC (I have none that isn't from the store, though) I was in France at the time, and when I returned home, my character was frozen and none of the reset sim cheats would work on him.

[EDIT: It happened again when I returned from France and I had to use the trick to evict and move back in and my Sim can move again. I will now see if the outfit issue or skin color problem persists]

I am now trying again with CC enabled and I will update when I get a chance. (in Egypt, it did appear that disabling CC stopped the sim from changing to the other outfit, not sure though if it was that or the fact that I reset and removed all of the outfits I had been using.)

Again, thanks everyone for all the helpful tips and support. I'll update ASAP as to whether or not this had been resolved.

So after evicting and placing a new copy of my household, I haven't had any issues with clothes or skin color changing incorrectly. I just wanted to say thanks again everyone for all the help; now my sim, Nate McAwesome can continue his normal colored existence. 8)
