University Uninstalls Itself
« on: January 02, 2015, 07:31:48 AM »
I recently got the Sims 3 University for Christmas and for a while it worked fine, no problems. But recently I logged in and noticed that my university things were gone, I logged off to see what the problem was and it said it wasn't downloaded. I thought, "Well I probably did that on accident, no harm done." So I re-downloaded it and everything worked fine.

That night I turned it off and my computer, and the next day I logged in and my game wasn't there. There were a bunch of old saves that I deleted right before installing University. (All unplayable but not corrupted) I checked the saves folder and there was nothing on my game there. Just the old things I deleted. University was not installed either.

So I started a new game, and deleted all the old ones from before. (I decided to leave University alone for a while, so I did not re-install it.) Eventually I got off and turned off the computer, went back on later and all the old games were back, with no sight of my new one.

Has anyone had this problem before?

I do not have any custom content in my games, I have 5 expansion packs, and a few things from the store.

Hi Sally,

Welcome to the forum. I haven't heard of University uninstalling itself. I've tried searching on the problem and am not finding much on the problem. However, have you tried doing a factory reset?

Back up your Electronic Arts folder. Just for safe keeping.

Factory Reset --

Move your Sims 3 folder to the desktop or some where safe, and rename it something like Sims 3 Current. Click the Sims 3 icon to create a new Sims 3 folder. (This is different from a total-game reinstall - This just sets the game back to factory default.)

Run a program like Ccleaner and it's registry cleaner -- It's free - http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download
This helps clean up temporary files, internet cache files and other files that are left behind that are no longer being used.

Then try reinstalling University.

If you want to continue to play your previous game-saves, go into the Sims3 folder that you backed up and copy over your game saves, files and such over to the new game to see if that helps.

Hope this helps, :)

It worked, thank you!

I didn't even have to re-download University, it was installed after the factory reset.

Thank you again!
