Late Night Patch: Changes to base game
« on: October 28, 2010, 01:18:53 AM »
Hi there! I'm starting this thread for us poor, deprived people who don't own the new Late Night expansion pack, but have patched their game up and are experiencing the new changes in gameplay. This can be a place to discuss the new features that have come out with the update, or any bugs those features are causing, and to rave a little about things we like or don't like. Hey, why let the people with the expansion pack have all the fun, eh? Here's a list of the new features mentioned in the Community News on the official website, which can be added to as this topic expands:

  • Ability to suppress Opportunities in Game Options menu if so desired
  • Downloaded items are now detected by the game and can appear in dreams, opportunities etc.
  • Ability to form "groups" in live mode to link Sims on outings
  • CAS Features: New breast and muscle sliders, Zodiac signs
  • Ability to select any Lifetime Wish for Sims regardless of traits
  • New Build Mode tools: Platforms, Half Walls, Fountain Tool, Swimming Pool Tools (rounded corners etc)
  • New Buy Mode Features: Speakers which play continuously in community areas, urinals, Black Light setting for lighting
  • New Patterns in Create-a-Style
  • "Additional bug fixes and polish to existing features" for base game and all of the other expansions, unspecified. So far, it looks like the bug where the Repairman will fix burned objects has been fixed, although more serious ones are yet to be seen. Watch this space.

Also noted:
  • Improved graphics options for water reflections

New bugs: Just one for me so far, albeit minor; my Sim keeps rolling wants for a hot tub, even though as far as I can tell they're not part of the base game.

Overall, it looks like they've managed to expand the base game by a small degree while still leaving a hefty amount of new content unique to the Late Night expansion pack.  I haven't personally experienced any troubles with the patch, and I'm positively drooling over all the pretty new patterns in Create-a-Style. What's everyone else's opinions on the update?

So no hot tubs without late night?

And random question: Can you woohoo in the hot tubs?

Yeah, the hot tubs are only in Late Night, so far.

And yeah you can Woohoo in it.  I just tried it:

There were also a couple of new options in the Graphics menu.  You can now have higher detail trees and water reflections.   I didn't really notice a big difference.

Since the patch, infants require 5-6 social interactions to top them off, the social bar and hungry bars deplete more rapidly too. I've had to resort to cheats to keep them satisfied.

Also, my pregnant sim was switched into gorgeous formal gown instead of the rags they usually give to pregnant women.

I think those options have always been there.  At least I remember seeing them a few weeks ago.

Shame on you!  I've got a Sim pregnant by a vampire ghost.  I'll be finding out soon how difficult the new nooboos are.  ;D

That's odd, I've never noticed a difference to baby Prinny when he was born - his social and hunger bars decayed normally. Maybe you had no positive moodlets to keep them happy?

And wow, I should try that Pam! A vampire-thirst ghost baby! I am going ghost baby crazy with this Halloween coming up.  :D

Now it says super water reflection, I don't remember it saying that before.

Yeah, I've noticed the water reflections too, they're so pretty :). I'll add it to the list.

Oh, is that what's going on? I had incredibly cranky twin nooboos born just before the patch, and I thought they were reacting to their mother having just died, though they didn't have a moodlet for it.  Thank you!

I have not received Late Night yet, but I downloaded the patch.  I've had one glitch.  One of my previous families went to Egypt for a vacation.  The father has a Visa 3 and the owned a house which when they got there, he no longer owned.  I had to do the motherlode to buy it back. (The house that I had built for them was still there.)  I am playing along until I realized that their vacation was not getting less.  They continually had 18 days.  I was able to get them home by using the cell phone.  This was a improvement.  One could send all of them home on one click.  I then sent them to France where my father did not have a Visa 3.  Same thing happened.  The days did not click down.

For another test, I created a random character and sent him off on vacation.  The newly created character came home automatically.  Then I sent a son of another family off to China.  He came home on time with no problems. So it maybe a one-time glitch or a visa 3 glitch.

It's not a big deal and one can retrieve one's family.  Just thought I'd share the experience.
