Should I get Late Night?
« on: October 27, 2010, 11:56:49 PM »
I'm thinking about begging my parents to get Late Night for me (even though I already have Pets, Bon Voyage, Open for Buissness, and Freetime for Sims 2, and Ambitions for Sims 3), but I want to hear what its like. I read a good review on Gaming Blend (click http://cinemablend.com/games/Review-The-Sims-3-Late-Night-27775.html to read) and read some posts about it, but I really want to know more about it, how celebrities work, etc. It sounds very confusing to me. Any thoughts?

Edit: What are the clothes and hairstyles like? Can I have some examples? (Mostly child & toddler clothes/hairs, please. Getting tired of using the pigtails on the toddlers, he he. It's so cute. :P)

I haven't come close to trying everything yet, but I'm glad I got it.  Mostly because we can now choose any LTW for our sims, without having to take traits we may not want just in order to get a particular LTW.  As for the clothing, there is quite a bit of new stuff for adults.  I haven't checked on toddler and child stuff yet because the game I'm playing doesn't have any little ones.  Unfortunately, there doesn't appear to be any new clothes for elders.  There are some good hairdos.  Sorry, I don't have pictures of them.

I am desperate for hair. The ones from the base are ugly, and I am getting bored with the Ambitions one. I need a little "boost" in my sims' appearances.

What a question.  :)

I could ramble on for hours but I'll try to keep this brief.
Basically, I think it's definitely worth getting if you like the city theme.  Here's my list of pros and cons...

Pros:

-impressive city atmosphere, especially at night when the skyline looks gorgeous
-lots of new options for socializing
-lots of really funny surprises
-great-looking modern furniture, new items in almost every category
-a lot more stuff to do when going out at night

Cons:

-building within the city is quite limited
-getting around the city can be a bit annoying
-some of the old bugs are still there and there are a few new (mostly minor) glitches
-can be a bit dreary-looking in the daytime

Overall, I find it has a higher "fun" factor than the other two expansions.

If you're not sure, I'd say wait a while before getting it.  Most likely there will be a patch to fix some of the more obvious glitches, so you could save yourself a little frustration by waiting for that.

tara1727 put a link to a website on the late night expansion thread (the one from before it was launched) that has pictures of tons of features in late night, including all the new hair and clothes and shoes and the pools and fountains and lots more - it got me really excited.

I know one thing, I have no regrets on buying this game.  I have only read a few problems and the bigger problems are from people that need a new video card.  That seems to be the biggest problem.  If someone had to turn their graphics way down for the last sim game, then this game may not work like they want it to. Overall, I give it a 9.9 out of 10. ;D

I like it so far. I would definitely recommend it. If you are big on family then Brigdeport may not appeal as much to you but I still think it is definitely worth the money spent on it. Good luck and sorry I don't have any screenshots but I can say I really like the new clothes and hair styles!

I actually found a video on youtube showing most of the clothes and hair, and now I want it more than ever. The thing I don't like though is that sims can be "naughty" in a hot tub. If I get this, no hot tubs for me.

Yeah I guess it's a little more blatant than other woohoos, but it's so blurred out you can't even get their faces most of the time. I highly recommend this one.

*knock on wood* I have not had a single crash.  The only thing is the launcher "needs to close".  That does not affect game play at all though.

I love LN, I can't wait for you to get it!

Late Night gets a big thumbs-up from me.  It's my favorite expansion to date.  There are a few frustrating bugs, but I'm sure most of them will get straightened out sooner or later.

Actually, my game is crashing much less than it did before I installed Late Night.  Of course, I did a complete uninstall/reinstall before installing it, so that might have something to do with it.  But I'm very pleased with the lack of crashing.  ;D
