Screenshots not in my documents.
« on: December 23, 2014, 01:50:37 AM »
Hello everyone,

I tried my first screenshots yesterday (as I was going to upload some here) but they aren't stored in the Electronic Arts folder in my documents.  I followed the instructions in this thread to find them but the folder is empty http://www.carls-sims-4-guide.com/forum/index.php/topic,21.0.html (we've recently upgraded to Windows 7, but I never had a reason to test when it was running XP)
When I go into the launcher they are all stored in the uploads section but the 'view folder' (I think that's what its called I am not on the right computer to check) button is greyed out. Once I select a picture it gives me the option to upload it to the exchange but I'd rather not have to create an account there.
Is there something in settings I should change so it will save directly into the folder?
In what I assume is a related problem I found that instructions for installing multiple houses by placing the files into the downloads folder didn't work. I can get around that by opening them with the launcher but I was hoping to upload a house shell too and I guess that will hit the same problem.
The one difference I notice is that the drive my computer has the 'my documents' folder in is actually labelled D: not C: (I'm not the technically proficient one in the house, so I really have no idea if that's a factor)
Thanks

Hi MagpieC,

Please forgive me, I'm not quite sure I understand what the problem is other than screenshots aren't where they are suppose to be.

If you're not able to find your screenshots what you maybe able to do is search for the word screenshots on your computer.

Click your Start button, and in the search bar, type in screenshots. Highlight (Mouse over) right click, and select Open to view the photos and to find out where the folder is located.

Depending on how many folders show up. You may need to do this a few times. Note where your files are.

You may need to do a little searching to find if your files are being saved to a different Electronic Arts folder. Since it sounds like you mentioned there is one on both the C: Drive and D: Drive.

C:/ Users > [username] > Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Screenshots
D:/ Users > [username] > My Documents > Electronic Arts > The Sims 3 > Screenshots

For me, all that's in my Sims 3 folder on my C: Drive is the empty screenshots folder. When I go look in my Sims 3 folder on my D: Drive, it has my saves, screenshots and other important Sims 3 files and folders. So this is where I would look for my Sims 3 files.

Something I like to do is make a shortcut to my Electronic Arts folder on my desktop. For easier access to game saves, screenshots etc.

Highlight the Electronic Arts folder (Mouse over) right click, and select Send to Desktop (create a shortcut). This creates a shortcut to your Electronic Arts folder where your Sims 3 files are saved.

I hope this helps, and Welcome to the forum!! :)

Thanks for your help, I also asked my resident IT guru (my husband as he set up the system) and they were indeed stored in the C drive, it seems sims had created a new my documents folder on the C drive in addition to the one on the D drive.
Thanks again for the help and the welcome.
