DM difficulties since new install
« on: October 27, 2010, 08:24:48 PM »
Download manager does not seem to want to work well.  It keeps saying it needs a patch but my install, installed the latest patch and when I check at the sign on screen it says I'm up to date.  I keep getting the message that it's not working, yet I sign on just fine. ???
What?  Grannies can't play games?

I'm getting a message about the EA download manager whenever I start up the game.  It probably needs to be reinstalled.  I was having problems with my Sims 3 launcher before the new install, but the game ran fine and still does.

Same here.  Game is doing fine, except for not being able to get repair person to repair salvage items which I attribute to a LN bug/glitch.

The repair person repairing salvaged items WAS a bug, which is now fixed.  You weren't meant to get a $2000 TV for $50.

The repair person repairing salvaged items WAS a bug,

They only fix things that make the game fun, not things that actually should be fixed.

Rats. I had just come to realize that he could whip your house back into shape after a fire. Oh well. :(

I've been having problems with my launcher since a patch that came out a month or so ago.  But it's worse since I installed Late Night and the patch that came at the same time.  The launcher takes forever to close, and I keep getting messages that it's not working properly.  But I'm not having any problems with the game itself, touch wood.

I haven't heard that.  Are you saying that the repairman doesn't fix salvaged items anymore and that it's supposed to be that way?

That is correct.  Mine won't fix everything either. Drat it all.  Maybe when more people try it, we can see.

That doesn't make any sense at all if you ask me though. Then what is the point of salvaging items if you can't do anything with them beside replace them? Why not just buy it out right then? What is the point? I think there is more to it but maybe we just haven't figured it out yet? I don't know! I just see it as a waste and pointless otherwise?

Maybe the salvageable stuff is only there to give inventors something to detonate?  But my sims have been living on salvaging in their early days.  If the repairman won't fix salvaged stuff anymore, life will be a lot harder for my new characters.

Never thought of that. I guess but that still stinks I think.
